Giyoh dude you it's a godsend that you did these hernia vids!!! It's EXACTLY what I'm going through. Big athlete here, 31 years old, competitive triathlete, runner, cyclist, play some hoop, football...I was doing great. Got back at it...did a triathlon, even hit the track ran a 59s 400m during a workout at week 11. For past 2 weeks (week 12 & 13) been having those sharp pains again, pains in my balls...doc says I didn't reinjure anything, but I feel twice more reassured seeing you had the same experience than hearing it come from him. Thanks bro & keep balling wherever you are...heaven is a playground.

Greatly appreciate this video, Giyoh, and congrats on your hoops contract! I'm scheduled next month for my surgery (open + mesh) and am one of the those very active guys you spoke about. I didn't realize the down time could be as long as 5 months but I'll deal with it. Its been over two years as this since I realized I had an inguinal right-side hernia and am glad I'm finally dealing with it .. and yes as Giyoh said if left alone as was my experience, a hernia does get bigger and bigger.

Have to agree with everything said in the video, thanks for the videos @giyoh. Had my surgery about 5 years ago. Also would like to say how it's important to stay on top of it and maintain a decent degree of strength in that area. I was never given any physical therapy or any notes on what to do post-op, but have learned that when I'm not active and working out just a little bit even, it can become painful again, this is 5 years later. So make sure you have a few follow ups and get the right info on it, because I've had a few different periods where it was quite painful, and this is quite a while post-op.

Hi Giyoh, thanks for these video updates. Really encouraging. I'm into my 6th week of recovery and so far so good. You said you went full training in about 5 months. I want to go back to lifting weights, not too heavy, just for strengthening. How long did it take you before you lifted weights again? Is it also 5 months? And in probably the 2nd month, we're you doing push ups already? I will really appreciate your reply.

Haven't crapped yet but am trying to stick to a soup and light food diet and avoiding the prescription Hydrocodone unless I absolutely need it, instead taking ibuprofen. Hey man. I had surgery for right sided hernia which was invisible 8 weeks ago. The speed bump was doing my head in asi I thought it was a piece of mesh, but after enough research I discovered it was called a healing ridge. Its at it's hardest around 2-4 weeks whilst the muscles bond and then it begins to go down. It felt pretty tight during this time, but it's just starting to disappear for me now. P.S Thanks for the inspiring vids Giyoh, I've watched them all and they really helped me through.

Hey man love your video. I was diagnosed with a hernia by ultrasound too. I am pretty messed up right now and not sure what to do. I had the same "pelvic pain" diagnosis too and the "live with it" advice which was basically doctors saying "I have no clue what's wrong with you." Ultrasound showed very small, less than a centimeter, mass of something that was fatty tissue possibly in inguinal hernia. I get pain when I sit or stand too long. Rest, laying down, helps a little, but I have pain in the morning getting up and like I said it hurts sitting. It feels like I'm sitting on something or I have stick or something wedged up in my groin. Pressure feeling. What did your ultrasound show? What were your symptoms. I have some stabbing, burning type pain now. Sounds like you did open repair with mesh. Did they divide any nerves for you? I was thinking about getting the illioinguinal nerve divided to try to make sure I had no pain when done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The doctor would normally just do a laproscopic repair and preserve all nerves as her first choice.

+Gilberto Zamora hey man, the mesh is an option they give you along with another another option. i did the the mesh because the doctor said it would be stronger for me due to that i play basketball professionally. but there is a disclosure on the mesh. it reacts to different people differently. so sit down with your doc and they will give you the run down on both types of surgeries. what ever fits for you life and what you have to do after the surgery. lifting i would go with mesh if you feel right with it after your explains you everything. also do some extra research on your own also.

Thanks for posting this information, this is a big help for my mentality. I was starting to think that I would never work out or run again. I'm actually 2 months and a day after my surgery. I found out it was a Inguinal Hernia back in April, but I've been dealing with this since last August 2014. Before I found out I had my hernia, I was still lifting weights(upper body), I can bend over, but walking was the only painful event. It wasn't painful, but standing up and squating was becoming difficult. When I struggled to squat 225 (warming up), when my max was 415, I knew something was wrong. I guess I'm going to take my time with this. I DO NOT want to go through that pain again.

+giyoh “GS” shey I'm still taking it one day at a time. Most days I feel good and some days I think it's a set back. I've been able to do cardio workouts, but no weightlifting yet. I tried to lift and felt a twitch in the operated area and decided to pass.

Congrats on the contract!! I had the same surgery you did, except on the right side. Speed bump and all. I felt great about 3-4 weeks after surgery, virtually no pain. I was doing some yard work about 2 & 1/2 months after surgery & did something to it. Almost feels like the same pain I had prior to surgery. Went to Dr. who said hernia wasn't back & that I probably ripped some stitches. I feel like something else is wrong. Not getting any better. How bad was your pain 2-3 months after?

Hello Giyoh, I am super worried about my surgery. I had my surgery about 2 and half months ago (left inguinal mesh). I started to feel really good after a month after the surgery, and then the Dr told me to get back to my normal life, which I started going hard at the gym and playing Soccer 3 times per week ( all these after 6 weeks), about that time I started to feel sore again (not very painful) just a little soar in that area, specially lately I can feel a little bit of pain when I cough (I cough and I feel a little sting inside the incision). My question is this normal? do you still feel sore after 2-3 months? my Dr. said he would like to see me after 4 months, and that he does not believe anything is wrong with my mesh.

I had the laporoscopic surgery in July. I still have a bruise on the testicles but no pain the swelling went down. I really liked your video. I think the lump is actually the tissue after it hardens but I'm not entirely sure. I got my surgery done in South Korea. I came here to teach English and I only paid $300 for my surgery. They found mine with an ultrasound in NO time at ALL. I did gain a bit of weight after, it's hard if you're immobile a lot. Your video is right on, it's a health issue.

Boy babies are often born w hernias, which doctors repair whil they r still babies. Can't use mesh in baby because babies grow, mesh doesn't. Babies have better regenerative powers than adults, so repair gets strong, without mesh. I had my surgery performed at Shouldice Centre in Toronto, without mesh, in Aug 2003. Took stool softener to avoid pain of first poop. Walked all over next day. No pain worth mentioning after 3 days. Back to playing tennis after 2 weeks, lifting weights after 3 weeks.

I'll go see a doctor for mine. I've had it for a couple of years but now it's starting to bother me. My two main concerns are not being able to workout for a long time and being touched there during exams and what not. But I figure the faster it goes away the faster I can start working out

I got mines by sneezing 2-3 times abruptly back to back, it was kinda shocking to get one because I only heard you could get them only from football or sports previously
