Venous thromboembolism, or VTE, is a blood clot that forms in the vein. VTE is highly associated with inherited thrombophilia, and is responsible for more annual deaths than breast cancer, HIV and motor vehicle crashes combined. Inherited thrombophilia is the result of genetic mutations that affect the amount or function of proteins in the coagulation system. Inherited thrombophilia is most often caused by mutations in the FV and FII genes.

If you feel pain like a harsh ache... like a cramp that wont go away.go to the emergency room or see a doctor. The first sign is not death.

When I got a blood clot in my leg, I knew because I had what felt like a cramp in my leg for about 3 days straight. I hope this helps. ❤

@@KelsiMelynn that's exactly what it feels like. I have factor 5 mutation. I get clots all the time. I've had a pulmonary embolism and that feels like a knife is stuck in your chest. You can feel it. It's not like you dont know.

Question I got a clot from having covid and develop dvt . But my mom had one dvt and my dad also not a dvt. But blood clot. I seen a blood doctor twice now on the third visit he says I have factor v but wouldn't he seen that in the first visit?

My mother had a bloodclot travel to her heart and effectively died for a short amount of time many years ago.. I am a 40 year old male and 10 years ago I was diagnosed with the heredities prothrombotic state of “heterozygous prothrombin gene mutation” I am only now researching it properly as I have been prescribed a course of Tadalafil for 28 days to treat erectile dysfunction. I read somewhere that it can cause bloodclots? And I remembered I have this gene mutation thingy so got a little concerned. I have a few of the symptoms typical of Tadalafil such as headaches, intense muscle aches in lower back, thighs and legs. I am just a little worried it may give me a bloodclot? I tried to speak to my GP but it is so difficult with work etc Thanks for reading this whoever you are. Any advice is much appreciated somebody

I have a question for you. I am a man who had sex with a woman a few days ago. I am homozygous for MTHFR and heterozygous for Factor V Leiden. I have had multiple clots to my leg and my lungs and am on Warfarin for life. The woman I was with has no clotting disorders that she is aware of. Based on my clotting disorder would a woman possibly miscarriage?
