This is a play along tutorial for the traditional Irish tune Inisheer. It's a beautiful piece of music and great for beginners. I've included simple tabs that are closest to what I play in the video for you to try yourself. Happy Whistling! x

wanted to say, thank you very much for your efforts with the tin whistle videos, I have found them very helpful. It's always a pleasure to see and hear you. Just one thing where you have the tabs and playing together , if there was some way to highlight the particular note that you are on that would be of a great help (at least to me). thanks again keep up the good work.

Found your video for Inisheer yesterday! Love it, really easy to follow and you inspired me to buy a Clarke D which arrives tomorrow! A couple of requests, if you could consider them... A Scarce O' Tatties/Lyndhurst (Silly Wizard), Lovely Joan (various, including Vaughan Williams), Sweet Jenny Jones (Mellstock Band from the Thomas Hardy family music collection) and Miss Catherine Brosnan (Silly Wizard again!). Okay, that's four...

I love ❤ this beautiful song and your awesome channel! I noticed that you are playing a different chorus from the original tune by Irish composer Thomas Walsh. I think the version you are playing is a 2nd chorus variation added / changed by the Nashville-based musician Craig Duncan. Some performers like to play the original Thomas Walsh chorus until the very last chorus and add the different passage by Craig Duncan towards the end of the song.

Hi Sarah! I'm only amateur, but I can't find the song on KZfaq you mention, just Joanie playing South Wind. Do you mean that she combines 2 songs, South Wind, and Irish Air, or is South Wind actually an Irish Air? I see sometimes tin whistle players play two Irish songs together as one tin whistle song is usually quite short. Today I was playing Inisheer outdoors as the weather was 60 F, finally warmer. I also played Black Velvet Band, that "Cockles and Mussels alive alive ohh song, Boys Of Blue Hill, A Life So Changed, and, My Heart Will Go On, from the movie Titanic, One Tin Soldier... and many others. I love Inisheer and read that it was written fairly recently. I think the guy who wrote it was inspired by a trip he took to I think it's an island name Inisheer. Does that sound right? I got carried away and played 2 hours ha!

@@mwj5368 facebook.com/WhistleTNT/photos/a.168032847030468/576765002823915/?type=3 Hi here’s the tab for the lovely The South Wind as played by Joanne Madden on KZfaq. It’s the most beautiful ‘Irish Air’ and Irish Air is the style and character of the way most slower/romantic/wistful/sad/ joyful Irish music tunes are referred to - as opposed to Irish Jigs, Reels and Hornpipes - fast tunes, military Irish tunes. Tommy Fleming is a famous Irish singer with a beautiful voice who sings many of the Irish Airs and with great expression in the songs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qMeRa8-pvLi0YZ8.html This is a beautiful Air Here is a good explanation of an Air. thesession.org/discussions/31172 All the best, Sarah

Do the whistles have that natural echo sound like on the low whistle or is it an effect you're adding? It sounds beatiful either way and can't wait to pick up this instrument and learn it.
@CutiepieTinWhistle
@CutiepieTinWhistle 5 жыл бұрын
Only if the space you're playing on has great acoustics 😉 I usually play in a home studio or my living room, so often add an echo effect. The bathroom and the top of the stairs sound great in my house. Otherwise any other space with echo, churchs, tunnels etc. You can also add echo via a microphone and speakers set up of you ever want to play live 😊

@CutiepieTinWhistle
@CutiepieTinWhistle Жыл бұрын
I don't read musical score myself, so I don't create sheet music. I do sometimes share similar musical scores, but as I work out the tunes I play by ear, my tabs often don't match the original score, so it seems to confuse people. For trad tunes you'll find a lot of sheet music on thesession.org and for anything else, a quick Google search for 'flute sheet music' or oboe, or clarinet, usually does the trick 😊 Happy Whistling. x

Hello Stephanie, This is such a cute and beautiful little tune. It just goes to show that many of the beautiful things in life do not have to be complicated. I really love your outfit and your hair is very beautiful and differently styled. It is certainly one of the highlights of this video. I don't have all of the KZfaq settings on my phone KZfaq app that you are showing on the screen. If they are there I haven't found them. So, to slow your videos down I must download and use my video players settings. I've said before that I really enjoy your somewhat fast British accent or should I say Welch accent to be more correct? But, I also enjoy slowing you down to 0.5 speed... It's much closer to the way we talk down here in the southern USA. I guess I could describe the way you sound as being somewhat like the intoxicated British Stephanie. I find it to be very relaxing, seductive and charming. If you were to talk that way here no one would think that you were intoxicated. Ha Ha, Learning to talk that slow would take some practice for you I'm sure. And I've found that playing at 0.5 speed takes a lot more air. It can make me a bit dizzy on certain songs. That's about it for now. I'm going to be learning this tune for sure. I must say it again... You look amazing in that beautiful outfit!

A bit disappointed that all the tracks are getting so processed. I’d rather hear the raw sound of the instrument it’s played as that is what I have to work with. The processing produces such a professional sound that I can’t match it😩

It may also be the whistle itself. I play a Killarney and I quite love how my whistle sounds even when I play in my room. It's true that adding reverb for example makes it sound much better. But if you were to play in a church for example, then there would also be reverb, natural one. When you record with a microphone, sometimes the microphone records a very very dry sound, so it would sound even worse than it does in an appartment if you didn't add at least a little bit of reverb :)
