"Initiate" from Haken's "Affinity" album (2016).
This song was released almost exactly one year ago. Can you believe it? So this was supposed to be the "easiest Haken song" out of the other songs that were requested. This song is not easy! Many rage quits happened at the heavier middle part of the song. Anyway, the first part is kinda like the main theme for this song (or just the chorus) and will return a few more times with different variations. It's unlikely that you will not make it past the first minute. I am not going to detail about the verses, but there nothing but variation every single time. Just gotta learn every single part and memorize it. At some point we arrive at the heavy instrumental part that is just painful. Connor Green is banging his head during this part and I'm like stressing out because of the rhythm changes. Well done Conner. However, it's only a minute of full chaos before it stops again. I found out that there was a perfect video of Conner playing this song on KZfaq, right after this video was made. So at the last part of the song, I play a 5 (D) on the A string and let it fade, but he follows the kick which made me think it was just a kick, no bass. Anyway, enjoy getting mad at this song!
