How do you actually maneuver around gigantic elephant. However, human spirit is the most precious of all. Such kind, beautiful gesture. I think that the elephant knows that as well. And by the way, Elephants are known to remember cruelty and favor done to them. I really love those people going beyond themselves to help an animal under do much destress. That is just amazing.

They were cleaning the wounds ,and near the end gave an anti tranquilize medication and tried to wake up the elephant...yes "gentle" ....but to be sure they still did tranquilize this animal......

Great job rescuers!!! To everybody commenting, yes I am pretty sure the elephant did get up. It was just very weak and sick at the moment, which is why a lot of antibiotics were given.

Did the elephant ever stand after treatment? I could not tell. Elephants are to be rolled onto their sides after being tranquilized - if they fall to rest on their chests, then they can die as it places too much weight/stress on the heart and respiratory system. Appreciate their effort, but they need to do things correctly.

AintThat SomeShit Yes, agreed. They should take some lessons from the DSWT in Kenya! I'm sure these guys are knowledgeable but it seems that the DSWT team does better work. I totally appreciate the work they do, though. They do the best with what they have.

The elephant wasn't tranquilized. It was already tired and on the ground when they found it, which is why they had to assist it right away, especially since it was already growing weaker ( as you can tell by how it was breathing).

Jahmilla Warner Being on its chest was probably part of the reason its breathing was so bad. I sure hope this poor elephant got better. It must have been in some terrible pain to not get up even with all the noise they were making. Please, cp wild Lanka, can we get an update?

I'd suggest placing the trunk so that the elephant can sense the specific mens' scent. This might reduce attacks in the future. It's Worth a try anyways.

An interesting experiment took place in Alaska where man made huge Moose antlers intimidated the animals and prevented killings. Wild moose retreated each time the racks were displayed. Maybe huge elephant ears would work the same.

It would be nice to have some sort of comment, in the description area, letting viewers know what was being done and the outcome. You don't show the elephant getting up so we are left to speculate what happened. Did the elephant finally get up or did it end up dying? We'll never know!!!

That wound is from a wiretrap. It must have infected the bloodstream since it's down like that, not a good sign, could mean organs are closing down, like kidneys.
