They should be judging tattoos before knowing who did them. I think it would be more interesting and fair.

The Liberty bell was easily the best in that competition. I've made a living out of illustration for nearly 50 years and couldn't believe they sent her home and not the guy who did the shield and arrows with the truly terrible USA lettering.

I disagreed with a lot of the people sent home on this. Not saying they were great tattoos but I really felt like the worst ones weren't sent home.

Honestly, a lot of the bottom tattoos in this season are still better than some of the top tattoos in a couple other seasons 🤷‍♀️

How Emac even got through this round with that ezpz small tattoo while Nychelle's realism piece got sent home is beyond me.

I wish they did this show by having the judges see the tattoos and review it, then learn who did it. I wonder if that would change any results.

I've been bingeing these videos and I gotta say these judges suck. On multiple occasions they have said "it has an unfinished feel" but it's just a black and white tattoo. And the tattoos that are "unfinished" are better than the top tattoos and that truly shows in the first clip. Nychelle's tattoo was 1000% better than Emac's both visually and representation wise for the base of "patriotic".

I can't be the only one that thought the Liberty bell looked pretty good.

Nichelle's tattoo was like a painting on skin, threedimensional and so on, Emacs was just boring in comparison. It was well executed but the two tattoos were basically not comparable. It was bad that they got compared.

Nyshelle's elimination was baffling beyond belief. Yeah Emac's wasn't the *worst* but it was a 2 hour tattoo at maximum and it looked like it. At least Nyshelle's looked like she spent time on it, even if it wasn't technically sound. I also didn't understand the consistency challenge; it would have made more sense to me if the judges had set a style, rather than a subject matter. Each team could've had a different style, with suitable motifs; you would still be able to compare the pieces, but the canvases wouldn't have such repetitious tattoos.

A good design with imperfect shading/line work is, in my opinion, better than perfect execution with a crap design. That's why I like Ryan Ashley's work so much. Ultimately even in the times where she had to rush, her design overcame the shortcomings. She always puts out good designs.

The tattoo with the arrows was not symmetrical or well drawn tho, it had no creativity or skill, I thought the eagle and the bell were drastically better tattoos even if they just need a little touch up because of the time crunch not allowing them to give their all, the only reason the shield/badge thingy? (Not even sure what it was supposed to be) had solid colouring was because the rest of it was painfully low effort

The fundamental problem with most of the contestants in Ink Master is obviously never having had formal art training.......Beginning with flawed design structure is the beginning of the end and no amount of shading or colour saturation can save a badly drawn image.

I'm very surprised that Jordi went home for illegibility of his new school tattoo. To me it seemed pretty clear that it was a pig on a spit/pole over ribs on a grill that had smoke billowing out. The grill cover in the back also seemed pretty easily discernable for me as well. I'm VERY unfamiliar with tattoo styles, so I can't comment about the style, but I knew exactly what it was the moment I saw it.

I think I have a fairly good assessment of aesthetic in art, composition, shading, and I’ve watched maybe a hundred of these episodes and agree with the judges in 95% of their excellent analysis.. but that black girl who tattooed that BELL?!?!? What the hell am I missing here: that was INCREDIBLE ARTISTRY; detail was OUTSTANDING! Can someone please explain what the hell she did wrong?!? Did she break some “tattoo stylistic” unspoken rule?! Baffled on that 1 … 😕

The knife schematic was a butcher job all around. That is a poor representation of a USMC Ka-Bar. Yes the guard/bolster which was chosen was backwards, but that’s not what the ka-bar has on it (I’ll leave it there rather than go into every issue with it). It’s her fault as the artist, she should’ve researched it more, but honestly if you’re a guy asking for that then you should be prepared to explain/show it. Most people aren’t knife enthusiasts, so I wouldn’t expect a tattoo artist to know this. The client messed up there too. This tattoo requires far more research to get right.

The judges are so inconsistent. They’ll send home a great artist that isn’t afraid to defend themselves and keep the bad artists. The ink on their own bodies aren’t very good. And navaro is more focused on his outfit then the actual competition.

The bell was awesome! Maybe it needed something around it pulling it together,.. but you don't have to put black in every tattoo. Some of the more realistic tattoos I've seen, have very little black.

Emac's tattoo was soo simple. Chris Nuñez said that his job isn't to look at how long something takes them. But, it should! If he spent all that time doing something so small and amateur while other artists did large, detailed pieces, then that SHOULD be taken into consideration!!

The squared tornado tattoo was actually the most impressive compared to everyone else's. Like he said, it's simple yet effective. If it wasn't there, the other tattoos would not flow at all.

That flat shield with the arrows was like a teenagers drawing with no depth or energy at all. Her Liberty Bell was great. And it could easily have been modified and/ or have more of a scene happening around it. Very obvious male bias in the judging.

Basing a tattoo competition on your taste in food is pretty iffy to me. I can't believe that's how casually someone would take a competition with legit financial and career implications. I'm not even defending the tattoos themselves, but that level of subjectivity would infuriate me if I were the one being judged.
