We found that by resetting the printer we could again print, although the message still appears saying you need to replace the cardridges. Resetting is done by unplugging the power cord WITH THE POWER ON! and reissuing the power after about 30 seconds.

I dont know but that track is killing it!

@froberts12004 Actually, HP's own website says that will the chips do expire, you can override them to allow you to print anyways. The same applies for the page counter; it can be overriden. Also, FYI, both original and compatible chips for the HP 940 are now readily available, so we can provide them to our customers if they need them. There are absolutely no chip-related issues with this product! You can use this product indefinitely! Beware of propaganda saying you can only use HP cartridges.

Permanent chips are now available from the InkOwl site for those that would rather not perform the chip replacement as shown in the video. Installing our permanent chips is much easier. Our website has much more information on the various chip options at your disposal.

are these still available? i know this video is old. all i can find on the ink owl site is the normal size cartridge, not these giant ones

Sounds good but the original chip is time date and will fail on that date. Good luck finding another original chip for it. Most machines are set up for a page count also on the original chip so after a certain alot amount of pages the chip will fail. Beware!!!

@peeanergeetar12 We have this printer in our shop. Basically, the printer prompts you "Ink is depleted" or "Used or counterfeit ink cartridge installed". All you have to do is press OK and then continue using the printer. There's not much to it, really, though sometimes the printer can be a bit stubborn.
