Families can scatter ashes of loved ones at a new garden at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery Complex. Set to open on May 17, it's an additional choice for managing cremated remains. Four lanes, each surrounded by trees and shrubs, provide privacy for visitors to take part in the ash scattering process at the 9,500 sqm garden. Auto sprinklers will be activated at the end of the day. There's also a prayer facility for people to conduct simple rites and flowers can be placed at racks around the garden. But the burning of joss sticks, food offerings and playing of instruments or music will not be allowed.

Maybe you are not ok with this, but you don’t have to caps lock yell in every comment. Pls be mindful of the feelings of those who have opted for this method. Thanks.

Why the need to take up a space even after we die! This is a good way back to nature. Add more greens and more environmental friendly.

After my dad passed away, we did the creamation at mandai, and you know it is not all ashes, some are bones.... so where should they throw the bones? i threw my father ashes and bones by renting a boat from marina barage to open sea.

SGVT WONT ALLOW URN INTO THE SEA TO DESTROY THE CORALS ! BONES ARE GRIND BY FUNERALPARLOUR INTO POWDER TO POUR INTO THE SEA. THEN URN FOLLOWS W CAP. THE DEAD HAS NO HOME UNDERWATER BCOS NO URN. SAD ISNT IT? A STRANGER DOWNUNDER AND NEW N BULLIED BY DOWNUNDER AND NO HIDING PLACE, NO SHELL LIKE SEA SNAILS.

They pulverise the bones so it is fully ashes that are scattered. No bones to throw away. All of the loved ones’ remains are turned into fine powder to scatter. That’s what was explained by another video I saw.

Does not seems convincing as ashes will be mixed with many others and the design looks like an ordinary drain being dressed up. Not sure about this.

Ultimately, you don’t have to opt for this if you don’t want to. There traditional niches around still. You don’t have to yell in caps lock at anyone who opts for this. The ashes, as explained, end up in the soil. It isn’t a longkang. Pls be more respectful and tolerant of each other. Those who have chosen this don’t need you to be rude about it. You can always choose to use a niche or to bury. It is just another option and the govt isn’t forcing people to use it. It is a choice.

"ashes will be mixed with many others" - I agree! I am keen to find out which religious group(s) supported this idea and what their rationale is. $320 sounds like a revenue-generating motive more than trying to solve the problem of land space and the environment. Money Money Money!

Ash is spray on the glasses, that is abnormal practice. For most Chinese, every year family members go to grave yard, and gathering after ceremony. Opportunity for family members getting together . Next disruption coming Chinese traditional values gone one by one, family members not together. For Malay not affected.
