That has to be one of the coolest and most challenging tables l have seen you build. Brass inserts in anything are a challenge every time. Absolutely beautiful. It fits and enhances the space it is in perfectly. Great job.

I think that you were very correct in encouraging the idea of screwing the table to the floor. I can imagine all kinds of bad otherwise. Beautiful table.

Andy, beautiful table! Here's my non-troll thoughts: - Color - yes... you don't really want that brass to be... brassy... because then it looks like cheap, contractor-grade stuff, so you nailed that - If you do this or something like it again, go with thicker brass to get less warping as you set the shapes in the table top - Knowing brass bends, my brain was screaming, "Use gravity clamps!!" while watching you try and finesse that donut shape... get a lot of lead, melt it and cast it into bricks, and then wrap it in cheap plywood - that would have pushed the crap out of that donut without the cauls - I have a lot of these clamps and they're surprisingly useful - Your router solution I think was the very best way forward - great job

Beautiful work Andy and the table looks great and very unique. When I used to make furniture for ourselves back in the day in my garage, I loved using shellac. Depending on the use of what I had built I'd use either clear or amber shellac. Easy clean up, you can put many coats on in a short period of time and the finish looked great. Also, on nightstands that I either built or refinished, if one got water damage from Cpap machines I only had to sand and re-apply. Good job on the brass rings nightmare that you had Andy.

Beautiful table. The lights/brass rings reference/reflection is a great design feature. I think the dulled brass will "wear" better over the long term. Shiny brass rings might be too much after 10 years or so. Love the verses at the end of each video.

I think next brass endevor you should try cold casted brass. It is easier to get the thickness you desire but with a little less hassle. Either way. It turned out great! Such s cool table. Im doing a table with cold casted copper for my self.

Really cool build, very much my style. How come you didn't use your CNC to inlay the brass? It would have been a breeze to tune the depth of the cutouts to get perfectly level with the veneer.

I love the look of this but it does bring the question up. Why not use the CNC carve the ring receiver as well as flattening the rings after installation.

Would it have made more sense to inset the rings slightly and put epoxy over the top? It seems like it would have been easier to get that flush with the rest of the table.

Yah I don't know. I would think the brass deserves to shine, otherwise use a different material. Either way, that is a stunning table. I love the stone, the darkened white oak, and the general shape.

Why didn't you cut those rings on the table on the CNC, seeing you already did the brass parts on that?

I handled a commercial property claim once where a decent sized marble lion was brought into a foyer as an artist piece. It eventually caused a partial collapse of the floor because the concentrated weight exceeded the foot load of the foundation in that area. I hope the owner reinforced the dining room floor to accommodate that heavy piece. It does look amazing and you can be really proud of the final product. Well done!

Looks great. Don’t mind the brass looks good a bit dull too. I think it’s actually pretty rare you see fully polished shiny brass out and about anyway.

I have commented on other woodworker's channels that they should use metal accents like this. Especially where they use bowties. Make it a feature. Imagine a mahogany or walnut slab with brass or even copper that has oxidized with verdigris bowties. Or even a stone bowtie, like a jade or a speckled brown and red marble? The possibilities are endless.
