On this video I go over the technique of inlaying fine silver wire in a pair of spurs. I explain how the channel is prepared and how the silver is put into the channel and then polished off.

I want to thank you for putting these videos out they have helped me tremendously I have one question though where do you get the rivets for the strap hangers and what size are they thank you very much
@JohnNordDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That is why I do them. I had alot of free help when I started. I think you are speaking of the spur buttons that go on the hangers. You can buy them from Westernmetalartsupply.com, or from Ranch2arena.com. Either place usually has them.

thank you for the knowledge and time spent on the video. i have several questions but ill just stick to one. for a beginner what would you recommend for and engraver. budget friendly but something that will do the job like what your doing in this video. Thanks again

Well, I would always recommend the pulse graver. No air needed, and does the job and more. You can go with the air GRS models and maybe find one on ebay for less money, but you will need a pretty good compressor to run one. So money wise, you will spend close to what you will spend with the pulse graver. When i got started, i borrowed $5000 to get all my engraving stuff. You can always go the hammer graver route by hand…. But you will spend alot of time learning. Of course with any engraver, its best to sign up for classes.
