I have straight six petrol Nissan Patrol and it’s super smooth compared to my 4 cylinder diesel van

Another reason I hear mentioned is that it can share parts with a corresponding inline 4 turbo. Since turbo 4 are so common, it’s relatively simple to add another 2 cylinders at the end, when a v6 would have to be a more separate design.

Hello, James Duh. I have three BMWs known as M54s and none of them leak. The reputation comes poor maintenance or neglect.

I don’t understand the downside of a crankshaft and camshaft being longer and therefore easier to bend when they are fixed to the block and head respectively all the way along the shaft in multiple locations. Wouldn’t the head need to bend in order to have the camshaft bend?

It's nice to have my prejudice confirmed, for real luxury it has to be straight six. I've always looked for the modern equivalent of an XJ6 or Triumph 2500. M340i X Drive Touring G20 will do.
