+Emily Armstrong It didn't seem to be that secret, watching it. The plastic on the floor is a huge giveaway. And I expect the books to probably have been props that were allowed to get wet.

It's not really a common phrase in Britian, don't worry about it haha. Think he found it funny because of the situation and because it was someone he knew, reading into it too far to think that hanging out sounded dirty. (As in, something hanging out of trousers)
