7 жыл бұрын

InRangeTV attended the first ever Hard as Hell 2 gun at the Southern Utah Practical Shooting range recently and we recorded this important event in the growth of 2 gun as a venue. This is the same facility and staff that brought us the first Rifle Dynamics Red Oktober AK match in 2016.
This first HaH 2 gun was a success and plans are already afoot for 2018 with lessons learned from this first effort. 2 gun isn't 3 gun and the demographics are the same but also different.
We have content regarding each and every stage, 1 through 9, as well as some conclusions at the end about the match and the gear.
We hope you enjoy this series and find it entertaining as well as educational.
Each stage had a sci-fi theme to throw a little fun into the mix. Our first stage, this one, was by far the most physically challenging one of the entire event!
Stage 1:
Icon of Sin
You’ve driven back the hordes of hell that arrived through the portal on earth. It is time to confront the ultimate evil and close the portal for good. You must retrieve ammo from the respawn point when empty. Engage the Icon of Sin from the platform (steel), then eliminate the demons and imps (paper).

It's not a stretch to say the WWSD project is the coolest thing InRange has ever done, and actually seeing the proof of concept in a match as brutal as this seals the deal, I think, that you guys are on-point with your theories about, well, what Stoner would do. You're making me want to build an AR, and I don't have the money for that. Dammit. Cars are overrated, right..?
@jameshealy4594
@jameshealy4594 7 жыл бұрын
Cars are really useful and cool, but they're money pits on a whole different order to guns. I'm not saying don't have a nice car, but consider how much you're actually putting into it, and what it will likely be worth at the end. That said, I think if you're just needing to buy one for basic transport then the AR can wait.

It's part of what made me build one myself, you can do it a lot cheaper than you think and it'll end up being exactly the way you like it.. you can save a butt load buying it piece by piece during certain sales (keep an eye on slickguns), particularly for bits like stripped lowers and uppers. You won't regret it!

Cars as a hobby, specifically hot-rodding them, has left me with a total numbness to seeing anything "expensive" in the gun hobby short of buying a light machine gun. I have spent a disturbing amount of money on my car which, though cool, is no faster than an '05 Mustang GT. I could have instead built the exotic rifle of my dreams with all gunsmithing/machining and legal costs included, and probably would still have enough left over for a nice handgun and a simple shotgun project.

This reminds me of some infantry school drills, where trigger and safety discipline is really important. You've got a range officer in close proximity, it's high stress, muzzle discipline is essential. This looks like good training, and good fun.

Stoner would taste blood and victory! Classic! I could never get through that with all the paper clean. Some would be shot six times, and some not at all. On the other hand, the fact that misses cause pain would lend to the "Make every shot count" mentality I can't seem to shake.

I'm loving 2 gun. When I first heard of 3 gun, I was like cool, a practical modern "combat simulation" competition. Then I looked in to it and was like fuuuu.... another sporty shooting sport competition. Nothing wrong with sporty competitions, I'd like to get into them myself for fun, but as something billed as a "practical" competition, well it seems like BS. Then watching Forgotten Weapons, I learn of 2 gun, a more practically focused competition. Too bad it seems like it's focused in the Southwest, unlike 3 gun which is nationwide now. Still a little sporty (I think that is necessitated by the range safety, the military has a lot less liability when it comes to training range design). I like the idea of trooper, as a former Marine I live by the maxim "train as you fight", I'd love to see dynamic targets included in 2 gun (they're becoming cheap enough for not just military or law enforcement to purchase), and maybe even multi shooter stages.

Excellent work gentlemen. I'm glad to see your hard work paying off so well. I believe I overheard on the arms room that you guys have these rifles shooting the 77 grain SMK, at what distance did you zero your optics? Also, do you feel that the better ballistics of that bullet versus a 55 grain FMJ-BT were a definitive factor in your success, or do you feel you could have achieved similar results with the 55s? Thanks!

looks like they need to colour code the shooting points with the targets you need to aim at. paint the head green foe 1st corner, red, blue, pink, yellow, etc. otherwise looks like an interesting course, moving down a ladder with a loaded rifle does not look particularly safe either. Sounds like the rifle point needs some shoring up for a steadier aim.

Damn. Well it is not called Hard as Hell for nothing. The biggest issue I see is after a TON of running and jumping around, you then have to remember what you have shot and where you are in the stage, while also concentrating on marksmanship. Hey, good training though. If you can keep your brain running on all cylinders during all of that, you are golden. Icon of Sin...did someone model this after the last stage in that video game I played back in the early 90s? It is kind of similar actually, only with a rifle instead of a rocket launcher.
