Concerning the stare: For me it's the moment right after the stare that sets a precedent for the entire video to follow. 0:01 if you pause, you can see his anticipation, all the energy, whilst his expression still stays humble and curious. This man is going to deliver you something beautiful and he isn't even putting the focus on himself but on the game and the curiosities of chess.
