I'd be curious to hear a follow up about how your wife liked the keyboard, how easily she acclimated to it and whether it met her needs. I haven't seen many of your videos and don't know if she prefers to stay off-camera... if so, maybe just an update on a pinned comment? I'm considering this keyboard myself and would love to hear her thoughts after prolonged use. Thank you!

Thanks so much for your comment. It took her about 2 full weeks to get used to it. That's just the reality of such a drastic shift in layout. You have to retrain your brain but once she did it was much more helpful for her carpal tunnel issues. She wasn't the biggest fan of the length of cabling. It was a lot so if cables bother you, there are other options, or get a shorter cable or a wireless version of the ergodox.

Just want to point out that having such a long TRRS cable is actually really useful. I use my halves (not an Ergodox) about shoulder-width apart, and it’s really helped with posture and shoulder/back pain. I use a trackpad or trackball in between the halves though. Using a traditional mouse in the middle might be hard to get used to if you place the halves so far apart like I do

Awesome channel! Would you be able to add a battery and Bluetooth to the keyboard to at least make it wireless? Even if the two halves need to be connected with a TRRS cable at least the entire thing can be wireless from the computer
@VeryImportantGeeks
@VeryImportantGeeks 2 жыл бұрын
To my understanding, you cannot make a keyboard Bluetooth simply by adding Bluetooth. It wouldn’t know what information to send. It needs to be built with Bluetooth in mind in the first place. Buuuutttt, Ergodox is considering making a wireless version that is also solar powered as well. Go check that out if you’re interested.

@@VeryImportantGeeks oh where did you see that? Do you mean the group buy one? If so, I thought that was a 3 party version and the reason I didn't order it was because the key layout wasn't like moonlander, no feet, and if I remember correctly didn't use zsa keyboard software

hey nice video, have a small critique point: its the music. idk... maybe its just taste.. but in my opinion the intro and background music doesn't fit your visuals at all. But i really really like your visuals (the footage, the colours, your style, ...). maybe you're just more of a visual guy and i am a more auditive one... or our taste is just completely different.. but i think some chillled lo-fi alternative kind of music would fit your videos much better (or at least this one. haven't watched more) .

Hey thanks for the constructive feedback! I could certainly try to put more effort into the audio. Honestly it just hasn’t been a priority because I only have a few hours on a single day of the week to make these videos because of work, family, other things etc. the filming and editing take up the majority of the time so my main goal is to get as a decent video out as I can in the time that I have. But I appreciate your point of view!

Not ortholinear, it’s columnar stagger (vertically offset as opposed to traditional horizontal stagger). Ortho is gridded Nice vid. It sure does look good. Tough to justify this amount of money if it doesn’t have QMK/VIA/VIAL compatibility though, even if it’s wireless. Also, TRRS needs updating. Keebio splits have already switched to USB-C because of TRRS having issues shorting PCBs Looks like a transformer
