A 11.9 second pass in the eighth mile is equivalent to an 18.56 second quarter mile pass. You desperately need to activate the driver mod. I had an automatic CFI 85 Mustang GT that ran 15.7 seconds in the quarter mile and my current automatic 96 Mustang GT also runs 15.7 seconds in the quarter mile. A 5-speed 95 Mustang GT should be running faster than that by a ton!

These cars ran 9.3-9.5 in the 1/8th with a decent driver that was aggressive but not abusive when new, at close to sea level. Altitude probably takes a 1/2 a second hit at 5k feet but still. The car is old and the launches were bad. On a factory geared car (2.73 or 3.08) you have to launch around 3-4k and spin through first to get a good time.

@@GirlsDigMustangs Yeah, at that altitude your cars are struggling to breathe, and if the density/altitude together makes it seem like closer to 9000+ feet, it's even worse. The track that I used to go to here is more like 600 ft above sea level. That makes a HUGE difference.

Here's some tips to help you get hey battery et lower the air pressure in your rear tires do a burnout before staging the car launch at a higher RPM didn't Speed Shift
@henchicken1
@henchicken1 4 жыл бұрын
With practice a stock 5.0L like yours should do under two second sixty foot times even with stock tires. Try lowering your tire pressure a bit and launch from an idle. The trick is to ride the clutch just enough so the engine does not bog but not to much power either to make the wheels spin. When you get it just right the tires make a faint sqeeling sound just on the verge of breaking loose. Those are the best launches then power shift second at 5500rpm then third at 5000rpm. A ten minute tune up will really wake up your 5.0L and it costs very little

@@JWGARCIA79 on a dyno an X usually has more total area under the curve, they get better scavenging, an h pipe doesn't really help you outside the low end. When you consider that you spend most time at a track at the top end, where it's make better power, a (real) x pipe is actually better

@@JWGARCIA79 and technically everywhere has laws against straight piping it, legally if you're in a firs world country you're supposed to have cats, interesting thing is properly sized high flow cats and race mufflers can actually ADD power over a straight without being stupidly loud. And there's a lot more to going fast than just an exhaust, where she wants to go with it as she's told a few people who are helping her (including me) she's going to probably end up re-blocking that car down the road to hold the power, and with the power she's planning to make, a 4.10 on the tires she'll need will feel like a 3.55 on OEMs so she might as well get used to it.

I was telling Cody on his KZfaq, try running Achilles 2 tires, their inexpensive tires and they hook really well, I had a set of those on my 2015 cyclone mustang, it was running 13’s which is real respectable in the 1/4 for a v6. Slap a tune on the s550, I’m running 11’s on 2017 gt, with just a tune and muffler delete setup just like your 16.

Not sure if you are planning to mod that car or not- I did a 94(sold it to my boy now) Do 3:55 gears. 3:73 makes cruising annoying. Unless you are going to do a transmission swap, then whatever. I used a NOS Borla cat back. Like, from the 90's, when these cars were new. I think you can still find them. I paired it with a Bassani stainless off road X pipe. I didn't put headers on. It sounds..... word can not describe it, it is perfect. Cold air intake, it was the c&l one(I think) with the nice aluminum tube and built in MAF. If you use this one, you HAVE to turn the MAF until you find the sweet spot. I do not know why, but it matters which way the thing is oriented, a LOT. A quarter turn can add 10HP. I got a mail ordered tune from AM. It's not perfect, but it works. Set your own timing. It's fine to do it by the book and figure in the numbers, but do a little seat of the pants testing too. Mine does the go pedal just great, and has that "buuuurrrrrblblblblblblblblblblbl" when I let off. I could get another degree I think, but it didn;t sound as good. NOS Steeda Ultra Light wheels, 17x9's. Not sure if they make the 17" ones I have anymore. I put 275 rubber on the back. You have the fairly rare factory 17's. They are the lightest factory wheel Ford ever made afaik. I think they are 8" wide, you might be able to get decent rubber on those. Might want to keep them, don;t see them too often anymore. I used Edelbrock shocks/struts. I think they are discontinued. I know it's all the rave, but I never lowered my car, it rides better, it cost a lot less, and goes just as fast. oh thats something, if you are running on original suspension parts, and the car has more then 35k miles on it, you need to replace a bunch of stuff. People take these cars, spend thousands on fancy suspension and then say it handles better. Well DUH, if you take your old, worn out 25 year old shocks off and replace the ball joint of course it handles better. Thats it, basically. I put a steeda tri-ax in, but it's not required. Car was tuned to be a windy road cruiser, giddyup a plenty for anywhere not on a track, and absolutely PERFECT power and handling and sound and gear ratio for an afternoon on some old mostly empty county trunk roads. The throttle is responsive, very responsive, and the engine isn't wound out where you have to launch it at 3k rpm or stall it. It's an easy daily, that is a blast and a half to go cruise in. But that's my(the boys now) car, you can do what you want. Just saying the internet will tell you to make a 7 second drag car out of it. IMO it's stock, why not keep it closer to it's roots and make it a backroads cruiser instead? It doesnt take thousands of dollars to add a solid 50HP to the car, and part of the fun is getting it tuned to feel just right. It's nice to have something like that around- my other car at the time was an 84 Capri with a 351 swap that my wife refused to ride in. Totally different animal, and honestly as fun as 45mph "the second time"(poor, poor 85mph speedo) is, I can honestly say i had more fun more often in the cruiser 94. Food for thought.

The altitude is 7000 ft. Then air/density taking into account...it's like we were at 9,000 - 10,000 ft. And this makes a HUGE difference

Being in my mid-40's let me fill all you youngsters in on something.. the '94-'98 mustangs were made for LOOKS!!! Gotta remember these came directly after the fox body which wasn't the greatest looking thing compared to camaros, firebirds, vettez, etc. The 4.6 was put in for economical reasons through the mid to late 90's, knowing they can easily be modified to push 300hp for the enthusiasts.

Hi, just my comment. I see you like the right lane, sometime try the other lane. "It's Practice anyways" It seems you run with the drivers window open? Please always close it. I would like it more if you purchased a helmet as well. You just never know. Good video thanks for sharing. (Thumbs Up) :-)
