Coding your own games is easier than you think. You know, you should take this online Unity course, on Udemy. It's taught by a software engineer and a game developer, who are both expert instructors. You'll learn C#, object-oriented programming, functions and variables - basically everything you need to know to make games! ...and all for the price of takeout. The course is yours to keep and take at any time, and if it doesn't work out, you can get your money back in 30 days. I can't wait to see what you make with this. Get started now with this special discount.

I play this map in "VR Chat" with my Oculus Rift! It's INSASE! I wish I could live there lol.. The future of VR is going to be great! It's going to be the future of humanity. Because in VR you can have everything. Once the technology is far enough, the choice to spend your time in RL rather than VR will become even harder than it is today with games and movies. I can see it. I know many people are afraid of that, but belive me, it's an improvement for everyone. And imagine you are old, can't even walk anymore, you will still be able to do all of this and travel diffrent worlds while in VR. Glorious time of Technology!

@Gmate Gaming I call bs, people should make up their own opinions again instead of having one shoved up their throat by big companies, like i said take almost ANY modern game with a sun and some water on ps xbox or pc and you will see that it is "ray traced" in real time, heck i dare to say i remember that BF3 on my xbox 360 had realtime reflections in cars water and glass.
@SwaggyKillzz
@SwaggyKillzz 5 жыл бұрын
Here you go, not the best example probably but this is some ps3 footage from battlefield3, and ps had worse graphics than xbox at that time, pay special attention to the doors and stairs in the ship, the other guys helmet, the deck and the water and specially the blinking light on the other jet which is reflected in real time on the jet itself, point proven. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fs-CqMZoscmnlHU.html
@noppy-san
@noppy-san 5 жыл бұрын
SwaggyKillzz rtx is overhyped because it isn't 100% true ray tracing. Ray tracing has been around for a long time but it takes FOREVER to get a single frame. You obviously don't know anything about rendering because it's a literal fact that those games are rasterized.

@Guybrush Threepwood unfortunately even a unity will drop alot if they can't compress it enough. Got some japanese made games for unity (mostly weird games like gundam and such) that is really, really slow because they didn't compress it. But most western made unity games can be played on medium spec because it is still too hard for low spec PCs

Unity should focus on actually making a game and see the bottlenecks that Unity has, having amazing assets that will look amazing under pretty much any condition doesn't really shows anything more than skills in 3D modelling. It's not about graphics, it's about performance, UE for example can create LODs on import, unreal handles texture streaming/ instancing, light and occlusion culling, out of the box, and simply performs better on high end (That's one of the reasons of HDRP). I guess it's kinda unfair comparing UE to Unity since UE has been on the high end market for 20 years, but it's Unity the ones trying to compete showing off trailers that use external tools/not unity default (but it's what they have to do, since losing the monopoly they had being the to go engine for 3D indie developers). Unity was doing most of their money selling assets, that's part of it. But now the asset developers will have to target the HDRP or the "legacy" shaders, most of this stuff will get deprecated till we find a easy way to translate most shaders (that are used to make stuff look great in those).

I've also saw their 3D game kit, and that I think it's the way to go, something modular (like the approach of the engine), with generic functions and gameplay systems. And it was a little bit of a mess and unoptimized for something that is quite simple game. Book of the dead (for now) is a showcase throwing high quality assets and showing some of the volumetric lighting they have on HDRP (as well as some occlusion probes that are not in the engine yet). I don't see it as a game, just s showcase.
@dealloc
@dealloc 5 жыл бұрын
Unity's sales point is right now the increased quality of graphics to stay within the market alongside UE. While I agree it is not the most important for games, demos like this shows what the engine is capable of for end product on the graphics side. It's aimed more towards designers than developers. Regarding high-quality making 3D models; It is to show that the engine can handle the amount of detail that are required more and more by designers. No one would use the engine for games, if it only ran 13 frames a second because some designer exceeded the limit by simple details. Performance is important, but that is best simulated with physics demos not with static assets that you only can walk around without interacting with.
@manueltripero

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNWCeMSAzqvMaZc.html Great video from quixel showing the difference between Unity and Unreal, saying some stuff I've talked about here (well, it doesn't really talks much about light dithering and the errorprone unity occlusion. It's good knowing that Unity is trying to step up their game and not only cash in from assets (but kinda sad they are just doing this because UE4 went free to use). I do think that 2018 is a step up on the right direction, though it left some of us pedalling on air with the custom shaders we already had/bought. There's still a lot to improve though (LOD, culling, threading and lighting being priorities IMO).

This is REALLY good. Everything is good, Materials, Reflections, Texturing... but there's one thing. Not to sure if this is a dev problem or a engine problem... but the shadows really needs fixing, it kinda ruins the realistic feel and feels Photoshoped a little
@MirelRC
@MirelRC 5 жыл бұрын
The dev should work at shadows, because the engine is good.

developers do not care about making a game photorealistic like this demo, maybe because the job to make the textures looks realistic is really hard, and proper lights and shadows too

To be honest, people think way too much that it's all on engine's back. All you need is a good computer to render and a good artist or assets, CryEngine, Unity and Unreal are 3 great engines that can handle a lot of beautiful graphics, if you have them..sure, but if you're starting go for Unity since its UI and documentation is more beginner friendly
@raphaelG_
@raphaelG_ 5 жыл бұрын
It's not hard, but to start level design or programming, Unity is better because of the huge documentation and community, with this you'll get the hang of it. As a programmer I had to stay with Unity since I don't have money for a SSD and a good processor (In my country tech is expensive af because of taxes) so my compilation time for scripts is a shitload for a line change, sad life lol

Game Design and Game Development (if you mean Programming) are two different things. The required skill sets are not the same even though there are significant overlappings, and the tasks are definitely different. The engine plays basically no role for a Game Designer, who must be versatile enough and be able to tackle any user interface and tool. That said, whether you plan on working in the industry or being indie, you should not ignore mobile which is the main market; thus Unity seems the obvious choice.

Unreal can make even a cube and a plane look realistic if done right. With unity you have to do a crapload of work to get things photorealistic. Another thing is that unity can't handle extremely large maps lighting as well as unreal or at all in some cases.

I expressed in a wrong way... what I mean is when he moves the view around, there are hiccups, I believe it has something to do with vsync perhaps or just that the mouse look is not very good. I don't know if this has something to do with the high quality of the graphics being too heavy to this kind of use, but I've seen many games running in 60fps and this weird effect doesn't happen. Again, I still think it's incredible what they've done with the graphics, too bad that this little bug happens when moving the camera.

My goodness the visuals are stunning, literally photo realistic. It is only the erratic camera moment that gives away that this is generated. Even if these visuals are 10 years away, it is impressive that these are live and not rendered. stock images!
