My very first art memory involves crayons; I remember that it was the first time I stayed in the lines coloring on the whole page. Matter of fact, I even remember that picture was of a drum and drum sticks. Well, most everything always comes back around full circle...well, except the staying in the lines part - coloring with crayons and a hot glue gun is not the easiest to control!
I hope you enjoy and this video blesses your day.
Comment your crayon memories - I wanna hear about them!

Crayola actually made a crayon melter that let you paint with it's hollow tip, it looked a lot like a wood burner. It came with clear wax for cleaning the tip between colors. The secret to painting with crayons is getting it thin enough to coat without bulk that can crack off. The difference between the dollar store crayons and the crayola's is night and day because there's little pigment in the cheap ones, that's why the white worked so well because it has more pigment in it. The results are more worth the effort with better crayons. I used the cheaper crayons for areas where I wanted more translucent results and added clear wax for duller crayons to even out the shine. This was fun to watch, thanks for the video.

Wow, what random dose of nostalgia, lol, we did this in Bible camp when I was a teen and I got so obsessed with doing I started doing it at home afterwards... but it destroyed my glue guns kinda quick, so I tried a couple things to see if I could extend their life and make it work better. And DON'T cut the back part off! That's what is used to push and extrude the crayons/glue stick through! 1. Make sure to run a regular glue stick through the gun after you're done with them for the day or even after a dozen or so crayons pass through. It kinda clears out the waxy residue and prevents gunk from building up. Also, I recommend using something better than a cheap buck-twenty-five one, lol!! 2. Use a high temp glue gun, it works the best for this kinda project and let the glue gun heat up all the way before loading it with a crayon. Also, see if you can find a glue gun that has a nozzle with a larger diameter or one that has interchangeable nozzles. I have one that I've had for probably a decade and half that has different shapes even, I don't remember the brand cause it faded away after years of love and use... 3. Using crayons that have a higher amount of wax work best. Rose Art always seemed to work very good and they're super cheap. I think I might rekindle this hobby again, thanks for making this video!! I subbed to keep watching more of your creativity!

I used to do crayon art and still have a large collection of crayons. More recently I did get one of those melters at Walmart but I honestly like my way better just using a hot plate or warming tray. This gives you a lot more control over the crayons because you can use the tip for fine detail or break them and work with the side for wide slashes. I've also had fun taking picture out of magazine and coloring in. Now I want to get some epoxy and get back into it. So thanks for trying that out, it takes this art form to a whole new level. I'm thinking about putting hot water in glass jars, cayoning, then c o a t i n g with epoxy.

Awesome attempt! Aside from spawning an idea for a dedicated hot-gun for crayons, or at least a high-temperature adapter sleeve… I thought about immediate solutions. You could use the long glue sticks that are the correct diameter as plungers, one for each color band… one for warm reds and oranges, one for purples, one for cooler blues, greens, etc.. They also make white glue sticks for highlights. Though I’m not sure the wax and glue would bond. Which might be a good thing if used solely as a plunger to add pressure behind the wax. Looking forward to seeing more experiments with this and trying it out myself! 😊❤

Duncan 😆You have inspired me to use my glue gun with it’s broken trigger, a shoe box full of crayons n candle wax - melt them all on a plank of driftwood with no design in mind, like art therapy 😉 about 30years ago I was on a Rainbow Circle camp🌈,I stayed up all night 🌟melting candle wax in tin cans over a fire pit, i had collected the wax stubs from the other campers and created a 12inch sculpture figurine Goddess in shades of greenish brown n black ,I still have her to this day 🙏🏼🕊💖👼🏼🇬🇧

My grandpa tried to assemble a metal tool shed and couldn't get it to fit together. One of his buddies came over and asked if he read the instructions first. He had to dismantle the thing and start over. When in doubt, read the instructions first.

GHEEZE.....PULL THE TRIGGER ON THE GLUE GUN. That is how the thing works. There was NO REASON to take that back part off. You could have used your heat gun to liquefy the wax, and smooth it out.
