Maya Schonbrunn became a SOLOIST TODAY at the RSB 🎉🥳 ❤ Madde Woo is also at the Royal Swedish ballet (not Swedish national ballet) that’s the company in Gothenburg ;) That clip is from their big rehearsal room. Yes I danced there a loooong time ago.

@@ivyarianrhodyes. Those legs are so pretty, not in a creepy way lol. I always find myself sounding like a pervert with a foot fetish when speaking about ballet lol. But seriously Tessa is amazing, it sucks that she seems stuck on her pirouettes, though whenever she pushes through, she can do quite good, she just needs more hyping and higher self esteem

The “I’d rather be doing pirouettes” is so much funnier when you know that Tessa is know for not being a turner (Note:her turns are fine, I’ve seen her do four clean on point but everyone at that school is insane)

I remember reading that Maya didn’t start ballet until she was 13. She had been dancing since she was little, but still. The fact that she didn’t start ballet until she was 13 and got so good so quickly…

My mother, father and I ended up in Russia as one of the stops of a cruise we were doing. My mother I both wanted to see a ballet my father very reluctantly came with us. We saw Swan Lake. After the performance my father could not stop talking about how amazing it had been. The power of dance.

Back in the late 1950s, my mother, who loved ballet, managed to persuade my stepfather, an amateur track and field athlete, to go with her to see the Bolshoi on their first visit to San Francisco. I think he was talking about Nikolai Fadeyechev when he said “That guy broke the records for broad jump and high jump simultaneously!“ He was so impressed that when my mother decided to take adult beginning ballet classes at the SFB school, he even took classes with her for a while! (But actually, I think he mainly did it to try to make his calves bigger, as he was also a bodybuilder.)

Not ballet but she was a ballet student "stolen" to be a RG: Yulia Barsoukova ball Atlanta (type this and you' ll find a bunch of videos from this routine of 1996). Spoiler: Swan Lake music. Warning: Watch until the *VERY* end 😉. Another crazy ballet-esque extensions in RG: Elena Sudakova, Olga Gontar, Tamara Yerofeeva, Katsiaryna Halkina/Yekaterina Galkina. Non ballet-esque but unhuman leg-instep extensions: Olga Kapranova, Aleksandra Soldatova, Lala Kramarenko. Enjoy! 🖤

May Nagahisa caught my eye when she first performed the Blue Bird in Sleeping Beauty!! Holy, holy, MOLEY!!! Every little nuance was precise yet subtle. Perfection in everything!
