There is many reasons why the hospital deaths would be down on last year I don't know if this is true or not but it does make sense. They (UK Goverment) waste a lot of time in February without limiting gatherings, no temperature and isolation checks at airports. Far as I know plasma doesn't contain white or red blood cells. It does carry oxygen to a degree but the red blood cells carry the majority of oxygen in the human body and are the medium used for transferring oxygen to tissue and organs. Apart from that the patients are not losing blood, why would you need to give a separate plasma infusion when you can more efficiently deliver oxygen into their bloodstream using their own blood?
