I have a Junco nest in my large hanging basket of Fuchsias on my deck now. This is the first time in 4 years of having the large basket of Fuchsias on my deck that the Juncos are nesting i it. I counted 4 eggs on June 17th. Inside Machines you did not say in your video if the chicks make a lot of noise or not. Do they? I guess I will find out soon.

Great video and thanks for posting! The pooping part was hilirous! We have a junco nest in one of our rose pots. 3 babies were just hatched two days ago. So much fun to sneak a peek when the baby mama and papa are out looking for food!!

My one junco baby finally left the nest. 😢 Don’t know what happened to the second one. Haven’t taken the plant down to look inside. Hoping for an empty nest.

Thank you for the video. It helps me figure out how tus baby junco Im raising. He was only 3 days old when a cat stole the nest. There were two babies but one died the next day. He is now 8 days old. Tomorrow he will jumping out of his little box I’m sure.

So cool. We have a nest in our geraniums... it's been about 9 days since they hatched, and the parents have been working tirelessly as you said. Once they've flown, will the little ones come back to the nest at night?

In my experience, the babies did not return after flying away. I saw them flying around the yard for several days until they got strong enough to venture further. I have no idea where they spent their nights though!

Yes, I carefully watered around the nest without getting it too wet. It didn't seem to bother the junco babies at all. 😊

@@insidemachines nice. I have the same flowers hanging and I feel bad for watering. Been trying to be extra careful to not get them wet. They are on day 3 hatched.

I was watching to see if mama ate the broken shells after they hatched or just took them away from the nest. Do you know?

Oh, great question! I'm not sure, but I think the momma took the shell bits away to keep the nest tidy. It's the only explanation I can imagine.

@@insidemachines Yeah, some birds eat them. Birthing depletes her calcium. But some birds just dump them. Was hoping to find out what juncos do. Thank you, also for the awesome video. 👁 ❤ 🦜🐦🦤🐥!!!!!

Did both babies make it? At the end I only see one.

Yes, both babies made it! I saw them flying around our yard. The one egg never hatched.
