A young family with a deep appreciation for architecture approached the design team at Trama Arquitetos to bring their vision to life in a unique project. Beyond seeking harmony, they aimed for an approach that meticulously explored spaces. The goal was to surprise, seamlessly integrate the outdoor environment with the interior, unify spaces, and evoke sensations while maintaining functionality.
The chosen name for the house reflects the significant role played by native vegetation in shaping the project. Set on a sloping terrain adorned with centuries-old cork oak trees, the property stands out for its serene views of the region's hills and valleys, making the most of natural sunlight.
The concept began with aligning the house's floor level with the canopy of the cork oaks, creating a floating garden-like effect on the horizon. This led to the development of a functional single-story layout that spans almost the entire width of the land. Materials were carefully selected to seamlessly blend with the surroundings, incorporating concrete, stone, wood, and steel. Outside, weathered corten steel subtly merges with exposed concrete, while indoors, walnut wood provides comfort and establishes a chromatic relationship with the Roman travertine marble flooring and exposed concrete ceiling. The final result is a timeless design that harmonises seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
