I understand people who love to have a bathtub in their bedroom most likely want to recreate a luxurious feeling as if they live in a resort but I find it impractical especially your bedroom is small. The bathtub is just too near to the bed and you need to water proof your furniture to prevent mold. Any splash of soapy water can ruin your parquet floor a few years down the line. I stayed in a house with a bedroom bathtub and I hated it. It’s difficult to clean especially at the base of the bathtub where I need to kneel and scrub to get rid of water stains. No matter how careful you are, there is always spillage. True enough the moisture from the tub ruins their parquet flooring and the owner found mold growing underneath it. Most people who have a bathtub in their bedroom also have ample of space. It’s usually facing the balcony so you can enjoy the view while taking a dip. Having the bathtub away from your wooden furniture also helps.

Thanks for the great presentation, Reuben. Everyone is talking about the bathtub but for me, look at that amazing indoor paludarium in their living room! It's so insane! I would love to have that one day!

Looks really good ... but when I looked at the floor plan, I cant help feeling sorry for the Maid as her/his's room don't have a window.. The door is solid, so its more like a small storage room rather than a 'proper' bedroom. I also love all the material choices like granite, wood and marble etc although I think I question some of choice of the finishes regarding the safety issue for a child, ie: that sharp edges of that gorgeous marble dining table .... Looks good but I'm not sure its really safe if there is a toddler running around the house.

The ID did pay attention to details and managed to work around those design constraints pretty well and selected materials and colours to achieve a cohesive look. The windows has nice greenery view and there are no ugly window grille that spoil the look. However, i am not very sure if it is safe for ground floor not to have grille ? I am surprised that they put a bathtub in the bedroom as i don’t think that will be approved. This is also something that is not practical. I wonder how they keep the surrounding and floor dry and get rid of the moisture in the air. Good design to me has to consider functionality, efficiency and practicality, not just aesthetic although that is paramount.

Don’t u find that they make the place very small , specially the two rooms 😅a lot of money spent on carpentry work. Since the owner is ID, I would expect more diff usage of space n natural light , extension of greenery from external to internal. Q disappointing on this flat

Everyone is commenting about the unusual bathtub in the bedroom. What about the sink at the end of the hallway? To each his own.
@Angelus9015
@Angelus9015 11 ай бұрын
The amount of water you are using in a tub is way more than a sink. Spillage is not the only problem you need to be aware of but also humidity. Furthermore, I doubt you gonna dip into cold water so hot water in a tub will create steam, making the room even more humid. You can easily clean a sink because it’s probably anchored to a ceramic counter top but the owner actually built the tub on a wooden floor 😅. There are many pipes running underneath the floor and even a small leakage can ruin the whole floor. If you want to ruin your flooring, it’s indeed “to each of their own”

Indeed a thorough renovation. So this is a HDB ground floor? It seems the lack of window grille will attract crime as it is so accessible. The lack of privacy too being directly exposed to public area means most of time there is no window view time.
@silcosilva
@silcosilva Жыл бұрын
Most probably the windows are tinted hence its easier to see out rather than from the outside to see in, unless at night or on darker days where the room light is turned on then the interior becomes fully visible from the outside... If the windows are opened, then it'll be a different story...
@P53eud0nym05

The mature estate ground floor flats are ok as there are steps leading up to the flat so even if you’re tall & jump, you’d not be able to peep into the windows, let alone climb in.
@zhen86
@zhen86 Жыл бұрын
@@P53eud0nym05 The stairs of older estates is a bitch once one is old. That is why there is no more stairs in front of units for any HDB anymore. Also easier for wheelchair user, that is why BTO HDB toilets are allocated more space as compared to old HDB.

The only issue w ground floor units is the rubbish chute but since its a new BTO i guess its a common chute outside the flat, so not too bad i assume. As for tearing down or erecting walls, most people will advise against it cos when you’re selling it could be a disadvantage if the seller asks you to reinstate at your cost, or ask you to lower the price.
@ReubenDhanaraj
@ReubenDhanaraj Жыл бұрын
That's a great point Deegee, thanks for the comment. I think one of the main things to look out for before making any major revamps to a unit's layout (tearing down walls etc.) is the type of clientele that would be interesting in buying over the revamped home down the road. On one end, the layout is now different from its original, and that could deter some buyers On the other, there is much fewer supply of these type of 'revamped' units around, and that could be potentially met with high demand by the right homebuyers. Having renovation costs already pumped in could also be seen as a bonus if its been tastefully done so that the future owners have less headache/decisions on their hands :)

So unfortunate how the helper gets such a tiny space in this big home while she (probably a she) lives there and helps the family a lot. That should be illegal. And I also say it's unfortunate because otherwise I could have just left a positive comment, because the look of the design overall is well done and very close to my taste.
