This week, we tour a beautifully renovated 1,076 square-foot, three-bedroom condo apartment. Sam, an in-house legal counsel, has meticulously tailored it to create a unique, personal sanctuary.
Starting with a standard three-bedroom layout, Sam embarked on transformative renovations. The two original bedrooms were merged to form a spacious master bedroom, and the former master room was converted into a purposeful study. A concealed door was artfully integrated into the design, leading seamlessly to these private areas.
Sam combined the living and dining spaces to form an expansive dining area. Here, you'll find a black-themed brutalist design with oriental touches, including the most eye-catching of all, a hanging light fixture that resembles a dragon moving through the wind. This area, equipped with a three-meter-long dining table, is made for hosting and lacks a television to foster meaningful conversation.
One of the apartment's highlights is the balcony. Offering impressive views, it's Sam's preferred spot for morning coffee. Inside, Jacky Tsai's 'Summer Palace' painting makes a striking statement and fits harmoniously within the overall design.
Moving to the bedroom is a unique experience due to the glass bricks by the walkway and the hammered steel plates of the ceiling to give it a water ripple-like effect.
The bedroom arrangement has been optimised for TV placement, while maintaining the tranquil atmosphere. An innovatively designed walk-in wardrobe hides clothes behind non-glass doors to preserve the color scheme. The en-suite bathroom, mostly kept in its original, well-furnished state, benefits from the addition of corner lights for an enhanced lighting effect.
In response to the COVID era, Sam's workspace was carefully designed to include a professional backdrop for video calls, doubling as a display for books and other items. Importantly, the study provides a spot for Sam's piano, allowing him to play without disturbing his neighbors.

I could watch these videos all day!😅 He has made a great use of the space! Too sterile/minimal for my taste but I love the touches of art he has and the chandelier in the dining room. These details are what make a home for me.

I think the design is great but for new home owners - Design your place FOR YOURSELF and not for guest. You are the one living in the space. Dont think about other’s experience. I think thats one huge mistake new owners make.

@@StackedHomesagree. Im just saying in general, especially for smaller homes. For example, don’t sacrifice your living room space with a huge table with the intention of hosting. If needed, get an extendable one.

You have all the time to enjoy the beauty of your house , the guests have only a few time to enjoy it so making a space adequate and beautiful for guests to enjoy without disturbing the inhabitants lifestyle is a great idea

Very unique dark theme! Love it! N I do agree with the owner about having glass doors on wardrobe. My wardrobe has glass doors n while I really love it n has no regrets, it can also b a chore to maintain the neatness inside 😅

Very elegant but not my taste, it's giving me a depressing hotel feeling, i understand that everybody has different taste which I appreciate, but why so dark? the electricity bill must be very expensive, he needs to turn on the light during the day all the time.

Nice design. However, the long dinning table may be a depressing sight in the long run unless it is occupied with guests daily which is quite mission impossible.

I love the "dark theme" although i questions some choices of finishing of certain area (as it's become too dark and you have to put lights even during the day? its like constantly on the night club lol.) I admire when people know exactly what they want for their home... however, turning 3 bedrooms apartment into 1 bedroom apartment? I'm not sure that's smart as the value of the apartment will immediately decrease ... but maybe he never ever want to sell it again in the future? so good for him...

Interesting concept and decor, although its way too dark for me. Not a fan of the long narrow/tunnel like space for the dining/living room area, which is becoming the default in newer condos. Such a layout is not ideal/conducive for either families or owners who want to host regularly.

This is beautiful place. The homeowner never really called this his home in the whole video. Or I’m just assuming? Don’t take me wrong, I love this aesthetic. But this maybe could never feel like home to someone like me. I’d call my house my home, and maybe not a unit.

Nice, but surely some concrete look tiles and limewash/ gray tones can't be brutalist. Or perhaps the lack of any sofas/ soft furnishing is brutalist in itself? quite an odd one to have a larger bedroom but not living area, but to each its own

after a while, you realise that all these chio homes have one thing in common - DINKs, gay couples, singles... nice place, but I hope he has lots of single friends/friends with no kids, because once they have kids, they won't have time to hang out.

At the risk of appearing pedantic, the grammatical error in your video title is glaring. The article "an" should be before the word Oriental, not "a".
