In this episode we explore an abandoned Mediterranean style mansion once owned by the Bin Laden family. Khalil Bin Laden, one of Osama Bin Laden's 54 siblings, purchased the property for $1.6 million dollars in 1980. Osama Bin Laden was the mastermind behind the September 11 attacks of 2001 and the founder of the Pan-Islamic militant organization Al-Qaeda. Khalil and his family fled under police escort shortly after 9/11, fearing they may be targeted in relation to the terrorist attacks. The mansion has sat empty ever since. Built in 1928, the property features 1,200 ft of private shoreline, 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a 4 car detached garage, a 3,000 ft carriage house and horse stables.
We hope you all enjoy this exploration and please be sure to give us a like and subscribe if you haven't already! We really appreciate your support! We also appreciate patience with the advertisements as part of the KZfaq Partner Program. The more we make, the farther we can go explore and show you all these amazing abandoned places!!

The walk-in closet in the main house is called a cedar closet and it's meant to help control moths from eating the clothes. You'll see cedar closets for things like fur coats. Cedar also helps to control moisture. Cedar closets are extremely expensive to build. In older homes, cedar closets were built. At Walmart, they sell cedar blocks that you can hang up with items in a suit bag. Those blocks are expensive and you'll start to get an idea of how much it costs to build an entire closet out of cedar. I absolutely love the smell of cedar closets. Once you know the smell of cedar, you'll recognize the smell every time. When I build a house, I 100% would want a cedar closet. My grandfather and grandmother's home had cedar closets and it's such a clean smell.

My dad built our home, which was my parent's dream home in the late 80's...!! It was a 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath with a full finished walkout basement and all the closets are cedar closets....!!

The "foam" inside the doors is likely for sound proofing. The wood inside the closets is likely "cedar" to help deter bugs of sorts.

The Juliet balconies are to make small rooms feel more spacious. They also give it the look of a balcony when the windows are open. One more benefit is added security when the windows are open. So there are a few reasons why people add them to a home. A bidet is for a quick clean of your privates.

That is SPANISH MOSS hanging from the oak trees. The large ground floor room with the fireplace might have been an area for dancing because of the indoor balcony that might have been used by musicians. The small door above leading from the master bedroom is how they got to the balcony. The master bedroom looks like a later addition. Thank you both for the tour.

So, I used to live on this property around 2012. The house was leased to my former landlord who used the property as a wedding/events venue. He did a bunch of "improvements" and remodeled some of the areas in the house. There used to be a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage that was also on the property. I believe you walked past the roof to that cottage on your way in. I wasn't aware that it had been torn down though. This property is beautiful when it is maintained. One of the daughters that lived there with her father (who was a caretaker for the original owner, Frances K. Woodward) actually died from polio and attended the local school. Great history from a house in my hometown. Also, there is def some strange occurrences that happen during the night.

If you Google it it says it was bought by a property developer in 2021 for around 7 million. Just looks like they haven't started work yet.

IN the guest house that was a water heater pan on the floor. I would assume that was the pantry for that kitchen. if you look at the wall you can see where it was not painted as the water heater blocked access to it.

Maintaining a house like this is a huge undertaking. Most older homes like this on some acreage, get razed & new houses are built

Thank you for watching! we unfortunately never give out the details to the location of a video unless it is demolished or was renovated into something else. This is to protect the locations from vandalism, looting and fires.

The first areas you explored would have been for a maid or butler as well as those back stairs. The second commode is a bidet to clean the backside. Those big bugs are called Palmetto bugs. They tend to die when they come inside not sure why. An exterminator told me. Yeah that is Spanish moss on the trees and it will kill them. The wood inside the closets is cedar to keep moths away.

I just saw the whole video. I am convinced the house was lived by someone else after the person you named. The bidets are essential for Muslims. And a few were removed. A few toilets were brand new (flush level on top). The battery on the heating control was still working. The house is a different color from when they lived there. Looks like someone else may be keeping or trying to keep up with the property.

@Nathalie Mathet That mansion is here in the state of Florida. Here in the US, the bidet replaces the ones you mentioned.

The chemistry for Jello owned it. Some other person of wealth owned it. Kahlil Bin Laden, Osama's brother night it for his wife in 1980. After 9/11 they were police escorted, (probably for their own safety. Kahlil had nothing to do with al qaida at all), off the property. It's been sitting abandoned since.

the device next to the toilet is a bidet, what is a bidet? The bidet is a sanitary object made of earthenware or ceramic that is used to sanitize intimate areas after using the toilet.
