What I have wondered is I always wanted to get a ride on a low rider when I was visiting LA but it’s kinda difficult to find. Why not offer it on trip advisor as a tourist attraction. I think that’s an easy and really cool way to earn a living. I’d love to get a ride!

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.

Back in the 70s when I was 7-8 yrs old. My mom who was a Japanese single mom, & I lived in Santa Ana in a very Chicano neighborhood. Being half Japanese was odd for me in that neighborhood. Everyday I'd walk down our street to school, there were Chicano cholos hangin' out everywhere. Those people took care of us. Mothers would send me home with food. If they were having a cook-out, they'd feed me on my way home from school. If my mom had car trouble, the guys in the neighborhood would help her out. Our race didn't matter. We lived there. I never forgot that. The Chicanos will alway hold a special place in my heart for helping us the way they did.

We are a hard working, close family, proud of our heritage kind of people. My parents worked so hard to raise us to become successful, respectful, law abiding citizens. What it is, is that the car that he has, is an extension of what’s hers, so when he lets another woman drive the car, it’s like her, letting another woman involve herself with her man. When my parents were elderly, their car broke down in Denver at night. This was before cell phones. Some Chicano teenagers were walking by, and they fixed my parents' car. My dad tried to give them money, but they said no, they only wanted him to say good things about their neighborhood in return for their help. My parents also had to crash land a plane in the desert in Mexico, and the people of the nearby village took care of them until the plane's engine was repaired. So my dad's dream was to retire in Mexico, among the people for whom he had such high regard. He didn't quite make it, but that's what he wanted. That Chicano brother with the braids, Ronin, you can tell by the way he Carries himself and the way he speaks that he’s an intelligent and authentic brother. The way he articulates social and economic issues in the hoods, when he speaks on Chicano identity, you can literally replace the word Chicano with any ethnicity and it would be applicable. Having said that, I think all of the guys in the video are surprisingly well spoken, and I can't avoid thinking what great chances they would've had if they would've been at another place. Clearly, they have not only aesthetic and social understanding, but also a degree of self-awareness that I find very remarkable. No doubt, I would love to talk to any of these guys, but what's stopping me are the local and social circumstances. I wish all of them the best of luck and success in life. I hope they're doing fine and manage someday to turn away from violence and social insecurity.

I was an Uber driver in LA for over a year. Always was interesting to pick up in Boyle Heights. It wasn’t like other, as they say, “low income communities,” where picking up was inherently putting yourself in danger. The Chicano guys in Boyle were always cool as f*ck and respectful when they got into my car. Definitely check out Mariachi Plaza if you’re visiting LA, really cool authentic place.

Yea I’m from Boyle Heights if you come over here you’ll be fine. Although there is still a lot of gang activity and violence it’s all just within and between the rival gangs themselves so anybody visiting would be alright but there have been instances where they look at you and might confuse you for a rival gang member or just see the way you dress and that could potentially be bad. For the most part though Boyle Heights is great from its music, food, and culture it’s really a great place

I will always have respect for the Chicano/Mexican people. Back in the early 90s my dad was heavy into gang banging and being one of the only black families living in a Dominant Mexican neighborhood in East LA, things were definitely tough. My dad was shot 7 times and left to die. If it wasn't for two unknown Chicano gangsters, my dad wouldn't of survived. I wouldn't be here today. These two guys who found my dad rushed him to the nearest hospital and signed him in and left. The only thing we know about these guys was a very brief description by the nurses and a rolled up crumpled piece of paper shoved into my dad's front pocket that said, "you will live." And it was signed "mouse." If anyone remembers or knows them, tell them that, OG Two shots and the Wilson family think of them and wish to thank them!!!

Tucson, AZ is very similar. Much MUCH smaller because we aren't 18.7 million metro population but we have a lot of authentic Mexican AND Chicano culture here. Tucson is also a city of diversity as well. My parents attend a Filipino church right here in Tucson and 90% of the congregation is of Filipino descent. We have a major Air Force Base here with active duty Filipinos/Filipinas in the military. We have a growing and vibrant Medical Industry with lots of CNA's, Nurses and Doctors of Filipino descent. The Mexican and Chicano local population is huge mostly because the US/Mexican border is like 45 minutes away. We are 1 hour away from being called a "Border Town". Just recently added a restaurant in 1 of our local indoor Malls food court called "Fiesta Filipina" so we have Filipino cuisine here in Tucson. We have DOZENS of East (Asian) Indian restaurants, we have a few African restaurants, Soul Food restaurants, 3 Jamaican restaurants, Greek & Italian restaurants, a Brazilian food restaurant, Middle Eastern markets, Chinese/Japanese/Korean restaurants, Vietnamese Pho restaurants & little shops that sell Boba all over town, Thai restaurants, German & Russian restaurants. Lots of cuisine to choose from and we are ethnically diverse with a much smaller population. Of course we don't have the gorgeous California coast with the Ocean and beaches but our Mountains are beautiful. Anyway, just wanted to show some love to LA from Tucson. I used to live in Long Beach in the late 1980's & lived in the SF Bay Area in the early to mid 90's. I love Cali and I miss Cali but Tucson here in Arizona is also cool. My Dad (Papa) is full blooded Filipino from the island of Cebu in the Philippines. My best friend who I grew up with here in Tucson is Chicano and his Dad was an El' Jefe (a boss) in the Brown Pride gang. I'm half mixed Filipino mestizo but I grew up with Chicanos & Mexican-Americans. I don't speak Spanish well but I'm familiar with Chicano culture. By the way, Mexicans & Filipinos used to work in the fields together in Central Cali way back in the 60s and 70s I think? Cesar Chavez knew about them.
