I think the thing that comes through so clearly in this interview is her genuineness. A lot of people seem to project a caricature of themselves for the public. With Erykah, you can tell she is just being true to herself.

Interesting she's always used those waves in her music. Her album Mama's Gun helped heal my very troubled teenage mind growing up. ♥️ I was extremely lonely, isolated, and depressed, but I would put on my jasmine, light some incense, crack open a window to breathe fresh air and be lulled by her sounds.

Baby, I’m trying to tell YOU. I got to her concerts every year all by my lonesome, I consider her my spiritual mother, the live musical experiences are TRULY transcendent. To see so much love and appreciation for her here is just awe inspiring…maybe the world isn’t as misguided as it seems to be. “Out My Mind, Just in Time…” is my spiritual frequency in a melody. I’ve you’ve never listened to it….listen is a complete misnomer for what an experience it is, to me at least so it may not be everyone’s most mainstream fav of hers but it is TRULY an experience and what I feel is a bearing of her soul. Erykah Badu is one of those very well known, very well respected artists that you know and hear about but never really bothered to get into or know more about them. I’ve of course heard some of her music and gotten an idea of who she was but really seeing more is so cool. I love little intimate videos like this about artists. She really couldn’t be more herself and I absolutely love it.

What is a doula in your world? In my side of the globe (SEA) doulas are midwives who does things traditionally (yes, spells to ease childbirth etc) and handle other issues/problems faced by women only.. is it the same there?
