There were 'Grooming Standards' until the late 70. Your hair couldn't be past your collar, your mustach past your lip, side burns past the lower ear, and they enforced it. They didn't enforce a lot, but they enforced that. It ended mid to late 70's but they brought it back...96, 97 maybe...but the Native Amercans came up with an Ace in the hole and got it back for everybody at least a year or two before I left in 2000.

That is new folsom .. Paroled march 23rd 2014 .. I work as a gang intervention and prison awareness counselor today.. Also work many projects with the scared straight program.. God bless anybody can change.... No excuses...

My buddy did 3 years in susanville and went back on a violation for another year back around this time.He got out looking like a pro bodybuilder.He got big and Ripped just off pig iron and prison food.And also spreads.

That's a myth, really. The real reason is the simple fact a weight makes such a good and convenient weapon. You'll notice prisoners today are as big and often bigger simply using improvised weights and work outs.

Suxxx for me I don’t even need to go to prison for my body is a prison,Sometimes when your health controls your life and your lifestyle like it does mine you don’t have the energy to go out and be bad and hurt others,In a way it’s a blessing but in another way it’s a curse for me...I live in prison everyday in my own body!!!

That's awesome my mom grew up near that Susanville prison which is actually in herlong but that as an army depot that shut down something like 30 or so years ago. There still an army installation but definitely not a big one. The surrounding area is full of meth and bad cops. This place needs a lot of changes

I wonder what kind of country this would be if all Convicts were given the option to ether hard manual labor of some kind or lock down 24 hours a day alone in a cell. I bet we would have much less crime and some very clean and pot hole free roads.

Well just look at the 3rd world countries that do that and have even higher crime rates. The punishment doesn't prevent the crime. Addressing the reason the crime was committed in the first place is your only hope at preventing it.

It was a bit later than that brother. I know that this didn't happen simultaneously at every prison but I was in ironwood in 97 I believe when the iron left and about a year and a half maybe 2 the last of the tobacco left the canteen.
