I'm not saying that those who stayed because they weren't able to evacute share any of the blame. I'm saying there were those who had the ability and the means to evacuate but chose not to because they thought they could ride it out, share the blame. They put an extra burden on those who were truly unable to evacuate. When I used the word "Could've" in my original comment, that meant "had the ability to". You misunderstood my comment and that's partially my fault for not making it clearer.

I live near Picayune,MS (where the eye went over) the marines landed in my field and started a a sweep. My Mother had a broken foot, they said they were coming back and Never did!

It seems to me, responsibility can be shared. Local government should've had some type of plan in place BEFORE such an event should ever occur. I also believe that there was a lot of people who could've evacuated the city before this happened but they thought they could ride it out as they had done with so many in the past. By the time they realized they couldn't, it was to late. And the Fed Government... the blind leading the blind. Nobody was prepared and people suffered because of it.

So they knew that the city would be under water days before it hit and knew the places it would hit the most are ppl that do not have the resources to evacuate and you set up nothin to help these ppl

I CAN'T BELIEVE that general said it was worse in New Orleans. If you compare the footage shown on here from Mississippi to the footage shown in New Orleans, there is NOTHING left AT ALL in Mississippi. If the levees had not breached it would had not been near as bad. That sickens me....
