Michael Jackson's birthplace was his childhood home on 2300 Jackson Street. One of ten children in the Jackson family, they lived in a minuscule two-bedroom single-story house in the tough working-class town of Gary, Indiana.
In this video, we investigate Michael Jackson's first-ever home and his relationship to his birthplace and hometown throughout his lifetime. Enjoy!

What’s ironic was how at a young age, Michael was singing about love and heartbreak…..”ABC” “I Want You Back” “I’ll Be There” etc….those are all love songs and heartbreak songs. Now, I could understand it if Motown made them sing those songs and it would make more sense….because how was a 6-7 maybe 8 year old Michael, singing songs about two separate feelings that he would’ve only witnessed from watching tv? Because I doubt his older brothers had girlfriends before and even a bit after The Jackson 5 became a thing. It’s kind of hard to write and sing songs about certain types of feelings that you’ve never actually experienced before.

I grew up in Gary and still own a home there. I went to school and church 4 blocks away from his house. Before MJ died, no one bothered their home. No fence. You could just walk up to it. It was a place of respect for us. When he died, tourists killed all of that. People wrote on their house, took pieces off of it, tried to break in.... They had to put a fence around it because people are so disrespectful.

That's why I think making Neverland or Hayvenhurst a museum would not work, because MJ's stans are crazy. They would destroy it. Otherwise they would have to have crazy security. Since both places are basically striped of MJ's stuff, I wonder where it all went since he had a TON of things, furniture, books, art, etc. was it all sold? That's a shame....

When I was a kid, I used to visit my cousins in Gary. They lived the street behind their house. We would go around there to look at the house but it wasn't much to look at. I visited that house on September 28, 2012 after visiting the Motown Museum in Detroit. After signing with Motown the brothers and father traveled between Gary and Detroit to record songs, many used on their first album, until moving permanently to California. I saw in a documentary where one of the members of the Spinners, before their stardom, and working odd jobs at Motown, had to go and pick up the group when their van broke down on the way to the studio to record.

I remember seeing a video of Jason Weaver back When the Jackson’s sn American dream came out, during an interview that Michael came to the house for a minute and then left really quickly and that was in the early 90s… Maybe he just forgot LOL idk Love the video I actually went there a few years ago and recorded myself there and took pictures and took a moment because it’s like a 6 Hour Dr. from my house in Ohio..But the locals like told us that Janet took that big plaque .. when I went there, there was just a block of cement on the ground like the width of what it would’ve been and I posted it on my Instagram highlights LOL I follow you guys on there too and I’ve conversed a couple times on DM..love it..Keep it up!

I feel bad that he didn’t get to celebrate such amazing holidays but it was part of his religion, so I’ll respect that. Their house was so tiny and then he got to own Neverland due to his hard work.

Financially Michael experienced both lifes, poor and rich. But while his mind was always rich of creativity, his soul was always poor. I can only imagine what he went through. The only true unconditional love came from his mother and his true fans I think, but at the end he had no one to actual get help from. 💔

In 2006 I was in 4th grade my social studies book had Michael Jackson and I was blown away he was from Indiana that’s when I started to be curious about his career and became a life long fan. Remember during this time he was not the popular superstar of the 80’s and 90’s it was weird for a kid my age to claim I liked his music. My teacher showed my class the “number ones dvd with all his videos and every Friday after lunch she showed us a new video from the dvd and everyone was obsessed.

Please make a video about Michael Jackson's signatures sounds like hehe, aow, ho, shamone, etc. What are the origins, when did he start doing it and what inspired him to start it? Thank you and God bless!

"He Hee" was an ad lib Stevie Wonder used on Talking Book. "Shamone" was a Mavis Staples ad lib. MJ made them a part of his vocal arsenal.

Yeah, basically all of it was borrowed from someone else, but people think MJ invented them. Just like with his dance moves, most of it is borrowed

I’m glad that they left this house the same exact way that the Jackson’s left it in . I can’t stand how renovators start changing things around making the house look a lot different . Landscaping with mulch and putting up trees ect. I seen that they changed Johnny cash’s house from the outside but left the inside the original way with a gas pipe coming up from the floor from where the stove used to be

I mean yeah, for the next few generations or 100 years he will be remembered, as we still know some 1920s stars. However, it won't last forever, as you imagine. Do you know any stars or singers from 1800s without googling it? I doubt it.

😂 , My dad, Bobby McGee was the Jackson family plumber for their small home. His office was in Gary, Indiana. He used to hear Michael singing when he was a young kid. He said Michael always practiced and he was the best out of all the siblings.
