Shotguns have been a traditional handicraft in India-controlled Kashmir for decades, but today the Zaroo Gun Factory is one of only two family-run workshops in Srinagar. Violence in the region and crackdowns on gun licenses have decimated the business, but the Zaroos are determined to keep the craft alive.

@@bagelgeuse5736 no way its gonna stay under 500 bucks when it reached the US, the tax, customs or shipping would significantly raise the price up. Even though if they actually build a factory there, the cost of living will drive their employee wage up to justify the living costs, and materials price would not be as the same in kashmir either.

It's not just Kashmiri's , owning a gun and getting licence for it is extremely hard all over India, that's why we don't have a good weapon's industry. Even if you do have a license, then also because of all the laws you will regret having it. One such law is that people with guns should submit it in their police station during any festivals, during election or any VIP's arrival into your locality.

@Umang Singh k-414 the reason we love guns is because it’s part of our culture. With muskets, cannons, and a bit of help we fought off an empire that control a third of the world at that time. Then in 1812 that same empire tried again and where fought off with a large militia and a United military working in unison. in a short time the war ended and the Americans found there ultimate strategy to fend off any empire and any nation, lots and lots of regular Joe’s with easy to maintain guns. And In the civil war both sides of the conflict decided to take their military issued rifles and revolvers back home to protect there families and themselves on the frontier. Then the importance of guns skyrocketed. Overtime the nation got bigger and better guns and we got the reputation that we were gun nuts because nearly everyone could get a gun (which I’m glad we got the reputation.) then with that reputation it added a psychological element to our defense granting us the ability for US citizens to have guns optionally (turns out sadly 3/8s of the country hates guns)and the rest of the world thinks that we’re still as well armed as we were 200 years ago. In fact the Japanese in world war 2 didn’t want to attack mainland American because a top general said that there is an American with a rifle behind every blade of grass. I hope you have a very good day and thank you for reading. I’m trying to refine my creative writing skills and this was good practice. I also hope that you learn a good history lesson today 👍

Gun manufacturing in india is restricted to govt owned companies. Only exception is Jammu and Kashmir. Few Manufacturer here were allowed to make guns by King. Indian govt did not stop them. Product quality is low due to not availability of technology and raw material.

@@DARTH-R3VAN they are more than welcome to leave for pak. And there can not be a referendum until and unless pakistan leaves the occupied territory, that's the first condition in the UN resolution which talked about the referendum. So to everyone saying why don’t they sell in the US it’s because of the “pot metal” gun laws. Basically the metal isn’t considered strong enough to pass atf rulings for the melting point of a gun. Obviously you don’t have to worry about shooting a single barrel or double barrel shotgun to the point where the metal will melt. It’s really just a back door ban on cheaper guns so the poors can’t buy them. That and getting atf approval to sell in general here is very expensive and requires finding an importer to sell the guns here and it’s done at the expense of the manufacturer. As a gun guy I love boutique stuff like this. And there is some good reasons for not selling guns made out of weak metal but these guys clearly have their stuff together. For those wondering atf is the bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms. They basically illegally make laws regulating firearms with out permission from congress. It’s fun.

See the Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu & Kashmir killed 20,000 to 235,000 of Kashmir’s majority Muslim population, furthermore he was a minority leader of Kashmir and didn’t represent the majority and was widely unliked and unpopular. You can’t say he willfully did it either, he had his arm bent around his back as Kashmiri insurgents and rebel fighters pushed for a Pakistani Kashmir. He only signed it as Pakistan supported pro Pakistani Kashmiri resistance fighters and he lacked the resources or the power to put these groups down.
