It's too bad they're going to go out of business because no one is giving them a chance to even prove themselves... All these domestic state-supported battery firms in china, south korea and even europe now but in the US it's the "free market" that determines success. Look at Stellantis's battery business in Europe called "ACC" with no differentiating tech but lots of state-support and the korean gov is literally paying for their companies factory in North America now, it's a joke.@@MunroLive

I am so excited to see America get back to manufacturing! Back in 2018 I went to China and toured for large battery manufacturing plants. One of them was the cylindrical format. The other three were the prismatic format. I have always preferred the prismatic format. The way they've designed that cell really impressed me. I think the layout and performance is going to outperform Teslas cylindrical cell format.

When considering purchasing an electric vehicle (EV), a crucial question revolves around the longevity of the battery. Tesla, manufacturer, claims their batteries should last for 300,000 to 500,000 miles or approximately 1,500 battery cycles. However, it's noteworthy that Tesla's warranty for their batteries extends only up to 100,000 miles, providing no additional coverage beyond that point. As of January 2022, Tesla's battery warranty typically covers up to 8 years or a specified mileage, commonly 100,000 miles or more, depending on the model.
@redtitan29
@redtitan29 8 ай бұрын
@@AwesomeBlackDudeI don’t feel that’s noteworthy as no manufacture warranty’s through end of life. 100,000 miles should give any new buyer security that the batteries will last though their original ownership.

A lot of good info. Interesting to see the individual roll-to-roll processes of coating the foils -- first I've heard that the copper foil+graphite needs to be compressed after drying to increase volumetric density. The gravimetric energy density statements seem a little vague though -- "as good as ternary but without the fire risk" could mean anything from 180wh/kg to 270wh/kg. And power density is important too, but at least they mentioned that with cooling plates both top and bottom they could reach 5C charging rate. Since discharge max rate is usually twice the max charge rate, does that mean these cells are 10C discharge ? That would be great for LFP if on par for energy density to ternary. A problem with BYD's Blade LFP is the low discharge rates that basically require very large heavy packs for decent HP. Usually higher discharge rate chemistry comes with a high weight penalty.

I sure hope those thinner cells for 800v can span whole car to reduce some shell material. its nice seeing larger AH cells being made. Each cell being bigger in AH storage means it can handle a faster charge with less damage to the cell. Most cars now have 10-48ah cells. 10ah can take 10 amps in 1 hour at 1C and the 48ah can take 48amps in 1 hour at 1C. Lithium can be charged safely at 5C. Larger cells means you can add more capacity in said amount of time. 12 minutes at fast charging is max. The only down side is Lithium degrades faster at higher C charging and discharging. So charging at .5C compared to 5C means your battery can double to quadruple their life cycles. a car that can get 1500 life cycles at 5C can get 6000-8000 life cycles with LFP technology and charging at .5C-1C. I have LFP 280ah cells 64 of them in my 4 battery packs powering my house. I charge and discharge .1C-.18C so I should get the 8000 life cycles or close. It looks like I am loosing .5% a year so in 10 years 5% of capacity should be lost. even if it goes to 10% after 10 years that is still great return on investment.
