This movement is made by Richemont's movement maker Val Fluerier. The base caliber is used in Panerai, IWC (as the cal. 32111), Baume & Mercier, and Cartier. I have a version of this movement in a B&M "Baumatic." It actually an excellent movement in my view. Despite the more industrial finishing, it has a 120 power reserve utilizing just one barrel, silicon escapement and hairspring, highly resistant to magnetism and it is relatively thin (around 4mm) and comes COSC certified. An interesting bit is that it features their "Twinspur" hairspring, which is a double hairspring with one wound clockwise and the other counterclockwise (similar to Moser's double hairspring), which helps to reduce positional errors.

Thank you for yet another fascinating stream, Kalle! This movement certainly did take design cues from many different manufacturers. Valjoux style winding, A. Schild I think had the first mass produced calibre with the offset pinion supplying the friction for setting the hands, Seiko magic lever style automatic works, a modern Rolex style escape wheel … and a pallet fork only Soviet era Molnija could be proud of. It was interesting to see that the calibre was designed to host complications found on other Panerai movements. I was relieved to see that this version doesn’t have the ‘return to zero’ seconds hand, where pulling the crown returns the seconds hand to 0 via a heart shaped cam as seen in the PAM 423/422 P.3002 It seems not even Panerai HQ in Switzerland can reliably get the seconds hand to hold time within factory specs. The time as measured by the hour and minutes hands is well within specs, but the seconds hand often has a mind of its own, for example showing gains of over 45 seconds per day, yet the escapement is running at +1s/d and the hour and minute hands are running to time with the escapement as you’d expect. There is a clutch spring on the seconds pivot, which if too tight would permanently freeze the seconds hand, too loose and it won’t accurately couple the rest of the movement to the seconds pivot. Add in the mass of the heart shaped cam on the same arbour and you have a mechanism that’s almost impossible to adjust, if Panerai’s repeated efforts to fix this issue is anything to go by.

"Slightly different. But exactly the same." An excellent description of a lot of "in-house" movements these days. I was a little suspicious about Valjoux origins with the sharp S of the jewel train all squished to the side. Thanks for the confirmation when the top plate came off.

Wales definitely is not in England! It's part of the UK but, as a proud Welshman, I can say that Wales is a principality and a separate country from England.

There's only one Oswestry which is now just on the English side of the border. In early Medieval times it was indeed part of Wales. Welsh is spoken as much as English in the town today. Thanks for your videos - fascinating! Ken (from Shropshire but part Welsh!)

Missed the lifestream 😢 But enjoyed the recording. The movement is very utilitarian. It’s an interesting hybrid of designs. Not in a bad way though. It’s fitting for a Panerai Luminor.

I am a fan of several of Panerai's watches, Radiomir with Cali dials are my jam. However, I feel that with some effort OP could raise the bar on their movements. For example, this movement deserves a Breguet balance spring
