Forgotten Wonders is a guy and his little camera, immortalizing human heritage and past lives through the exploration of the most unique abandoned places. My goal is not to have the perfect instagram shot, instead I try to bring forward the history of these places and of all the people who called them home.
If you engage in this type of explorations, please be respectful and be safe! Pay attention to all your surroundings and don't share locations around for everyone to find. That's how they get trashed or locked up.

@ForgottenWondersUrbex
@ForgottenWondersUrbex 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing this out, definitely misspoke there, in fact it was visibile from some rooftops in Pripyat. Based on some local account though, people living in nearby villages, and many of the people who were brought to the exclusion zone after the accident to clean up the area didn't know anything about the structure. Citizens who saw it had no idea what it was used for. The nearest bus stop was a fake one and disguised as the entrance to a Pioneer Summer Camp. Inside Duga itself, some workers only knew what was necessary to do their part of the job, but had no idea what was happening in the next room. The secrecy was unreal!

I am just shocked to see the before and after photos. I know this is kinda of topic but, do you know about a good documentary covering the fukushima daiichi accident?
@ForgottenWondersUrbex
@ForgottenWondersUrbex 3 жыл бұрын
Many of the "before" pictures were a bit hard to find, but I think they are the most effective way to help you realize the magnitude of this disaster. I'm happy you liked them! About Fukushima I don't have a "favorite" documentary per se. But you can check out the video by "The infographics Show" here on KZfaq which explains everything minute by minute! Another nice video with actual footage instead was made by channel "Documentary TV". I hope this helps!

7:26 What kind of filter or setting you use to make such dark but sharp pictures?
@ForgottenWondersUrbex
@ForgottenWondersUrbex 3 жыл бұрын
There's not standard filter, it really depends on the light conditions of the original picture, the colors of the landscape and surrounding objects, so many factors. You just need to spend some time on Lightroom until you find the right balance! Thank you for your comment!
