There is so much more than that which is not true in this video. For example, the government of Greed Britain does not control the overwhelming majority of the land. With a very few exceptions, the land and buildings are part of the Crown Estate, which is managed on a day to day basis by the British Government, and the British Government receives all the profits from it.

The way it gets things wrong all somehow manage to make the British Royal Family look bad. Now there are legitimate reasons to be against monarchies as an institution, and although I don't really follow their lives, their are presumably things to dislike about them as individuals just as there are for me or you or any human being since none of us are perfect. But if someone wants to argue against something, they should do it honestly rather than by telling untruths while pretending to document it.

@@dorthedalivengood9107it’s actually her royal style that was removed and not her title, she remained Diana, Princess of Wales as a courtesy title even after her divorce with Prince Charles but can no longer use the style HRH since she is no longer married to a member of the royal family. It would be weird had Diana lived and William becomes King which would raise her ranking among the royals since she is the King’s mother, she would’ve been styled as HRH, Diana, The Princess Mother.

The King DID pay for his own coronation, especially if you define things the way that this lying video does. You see, the vast majority of the wealth described in this video, especially if you go by actual value, belongs to the Crown Estate and not the king or queen. The Royal Family gives all of the revenue and realistically the control of the Crown Estate to the British Government. Yes, gives. Revenue of Billions per year. Why? During the middle ages the English Monarch had very, very little ability to tax. He ran the country and paid for what the government needed off of the money he made from the land he owned and by getting creative about raising money, especially in a war or other emergency. One king actually pawned the Crown Jewels. Because this was possible because it was before modern standing armies as well as the development of most modern government functions - like paving roads outside of a few in major cities. Instead of a military, the nobles had a duty to fight and supply soldiers and equipment if there was a war out of the money they made from their land, much like the king but on a smaller scale. The idea was that it was the monarchy that granted them the land in the first place, since originally William the Conquerer owned all of it after defeating the locals in the Norman Invasion (very approximately) a thousand years ago. Since he could not run the whole place personally, he gave most of it to the people who came with him and fought beside him (as well as giving back their own land to at least some of the people who didn't oppose him). But in return they owed the reigning monarch military (or rarely some other) service in perpetuity. Instead of a monetary property or income tax they paid by fighting in any conflicts. But as war switched from being decided by a relatively few knights on horseback to ever larger armies with guns, this way of doing things became increasingly unrealistic. The nobles, knights, and mean-at-arms had to supply their own armor and weapons, which could be made by a local blacksmith. They only assembled if there was a war, and as slow as transportation was they generally had the time to get together. But transportation improved, overseas colonies and a vast maritime trade developed. A standing army and a vast and very expensive navy were needed to both protect and control all of this. Not to mention the infrastructure and administrative costs necessary to make it all work. As the situation progressed it gradually became completely impossible for the king to pay for everything out of his own pocket. But it is Parliament that has the right to tax, not the king. And Parliament had rarely been willing to introduce more taxes since they, rather reasonably, saw it as costing them and their supporters money that then went to be used by and mainly benefit the people running the government, which was largely the king or queen and people he or she had appointed. So in 1760 the king made a deal with them. He would turn over the profits from almost everything he owned to the government and let them manage it (some exceptions about the management part) for the rest of his life if they would take over paying for the government. Every single monarch since then has done the same thing as soon as they are crowned. If they didn't, as many billions more as they would make, they would be bankrupt overnight from paying for everything that the British Government does now.

There is unfortunately a lot of ignorance about governments and history in the United States, tragically even our own. But people here do seem to get particularly confused about this topic. In their defense, the British structure and system is very different from ours and it probably confuses people here, and you are far more likely to meet someone from England in the United States than any other single place where the British Monarch is the head of state, and... when the colonists moved here originally they generally did so as English settlers and not British ones because the Act Of Union between Scotland and the countries of England and Wales had not happened yet. There was not a Great Britain when the colonies here were founded. But you are still correct. Just going from memory and not looking it up, His Royal Majesty King Charles is the King of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, Duke (?) of Jersey, Guernsey, and Sark, Lord Of The Isles, Lord of The Isle of Man, and the Head of State for all of the countries in the British Commonwealth. I am not sure what title he has regarding Britain's overseas possessions like The Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Gibraltar or The British Virgin Islands.
