lmao this really aint it. i would have no problem if they infact were dating, i'd be so happy for both of my babies, but what we're NOT gonna do is romanticize their friendship. selena has matching tattoos with all her best friends, its just something special she likes to share w her friends. and she's always been super comfortable around women in general. if youre a fan then you'd know she has said she feels safer and comfortable around woman, and if we start sexualizing even her girl friends then she'll feel uncomfortable. and just because people realize that two woman can kiss eo w/o it being romantic, does not mean we're opposed to them being involved. again, we dislike her friendships being taken out of context no matter what gender

When you post a picture of you cosied up to someone as Selena did recently with Julia, and caption it "My love, my heart, and my soul." while tagging them. There's nothing 'sexualized' about that. Particularly when they then reply "The amount I love you is unreal." Just because it could mean they're dating, doesn't make it them being sexualized. It's only got that automatic trigger because it's two women, and that isn't treated with the kind of 'normality' even by 'allies'. Which is why people rush to the "They just friends!" as if it's some kind of defensive shield against the 'other' possibility. But why's the other possibility gotta be treated like 'the other' instead of normality? Cause if they were a straight couple doing this(all of this) it'd be chatted about and 'stanned' and you wouldn't see so many people jumping to say "THEY JUST FRIENDS" desperately as if 'they could be dating' is somehow a bad thing to assume... Also... to Selena's "my arrow points to you forever." post... Julia replied "Always to you baby. I love you" and tagged Selena in it. Is the idea that they could be dating and are showing public affection towards one another something that needs to be 'shielded' with basically a 'nothing to see here folks!' statement? Only if it bothers, but why would it bother? Affection, love, or a relationship is not being sexualized, and if they're comfortable putting that out there, why would others be 'uncomfortable' by it, or call it 'being sexualized.' Sometimes, unfortunately it's engrained that m/f kissing is the standard, but f/f kissing is somehow 'risque' and the idea that two women are dating is treated with 'kid gloves' meanwhile one bat of the eye can be thrown into the 'they're dating' cabinet for cis relationships/friendships. "They're just friends" has become some kind of automatic defense mechanism, for an implication of a potential relationship that doesn't NEED to be defended against. Marinate on that for a bit and ask why that is.

@@carrastealth you're literally twisting this into something that it's clearly not. this is NOT about her being with a woman or a man. its about twisting a pure friendship and making a big deal out of something thats so innocent, i had the same thing to say when people twisted selena and zedd's friendship into something it was not. my response has NOTHING to do with someone's gender preference, so i would like you to not twist that to fit your 'people are saying this only because its a woman' narrative. because my first sentence was "i would be happy if they were dating" [read: i SHIP them] people are not jumping to say "they're just friends" because they don't want them to date, its because they'd have no problem if they dated, and they ship it but not at the cost of romanticizing someone's close bond and friendship, WHOEVER it may be with. i saw more people celebrating this sweet moment than the type of reaction you're implying here you just decided to take one word out of all that i said and twist the whole meaning. read it again if you will, but do not take my words out of context to make them seem offensive.

When you try to take those things and call them sexualized, or when you take those things and actively try to downplay or downtalk what they are or could be, and put it behind "Well it's CLEARLY obvious they aren't together. BUT.. I'd be happy if they were. Really!" I ask you, with what are you bringing that from? Cause it isn't from anything they've done with one another. You can say "I'd be happy if they were dating!" all you want, but the quickness you try to defuse even the idea or implication that they could be potentially dating when there's strong evidence of their affection, you wish to dim down to 'just friendship' when you have far less evidence of the contrary(particularly LATELY) is what speaks volumes. More than any 'one' statement.
