One of the unique things that Brunei has during Hari Raya Aidilfitri - the Muslim festival celebrated to mark the end of Ramadhan - is the ‘open house’ at the Sultan’s palace, Istana Nurul Iman.
Every year, His Majesty and members of the Royal family hold a meet-and-greet (known as ‘junjung ziarah’ in Malay) with the people, opening the palace to the public for three days. The annual event begins on the second day of Eid, and is open not only to Bruneians but to foreigners and tourists who want to experience Hari Raya in Brunei.
