Congrats to the Red Sox for an epic walk off home run , not taking that moment away from them . That being said I also believe that a big part of baseball is momentum and The Rays has that taken from them on a weird odd play that “technically” was called correct but no denying it confused everyone on what the right decision was and most likely will alter the rule books in the future .

Sox fan here..guy should have been able to score even with the ground rule double. Tough call for sure. Seeing you lose your mind with excitement when you thought it was a home run and then seeing you realize it didn’t go your way is exactly what it means to be a sports fan..great video man!!

As for the ground rule double, the rules are clear that the ball is live until it is cleanly fielded by the defense. Since it was never cleanly fielded by the defense, the ball was live when it left the field of play. It's a very clear ground rule double. There's really no need for an asterisk next to anything. It was pretty funky, though.

That was a great game, extra innings etc. But tough to see the Rays lose. Feel that rule should be changed. Make or break game tonight!

Very interesting play at the end. I just watched a recap on MLB Tonight and they showed the Umpires explaining the rationale of the call, they said the ball was "no longer in flight once it hit the wall". MLB hosts thought TB should've been awarded the base. Great vlog!!!

Adam, as an Angel fan, I know a thing or two about the Red Sox and playoff pain. 1986: One Strike Away from the world Series, Dave Henderson hits a go-ahead HR for the Sox. Angels tie it in the bottom of the 9th only to lose in extras to another Henderson hit. Sox win games 6 and 7 in Boston. Angels wait 16 years to get back to playoffs. 2004, 2007, 2008: Swept by Red Sox in ALDS in 04 and 07. Losing streak to Sox reaches 11 straight before winning game 3 in 08. The Sox walked off game 4. (the Rays would avenge this by winning the ALCS that year) 2009: Angels sweep Sox in ALDS. Angels haven't won a postseason series since. Hopefully the Rays get back up and even the series.

My brother and nephew were at the game in Fenway! I’m a New Englander born and raised, but live here in Florida now. I’ll always love my Sox, but I’d definitely like to make it to Rays games in the future.

As a Red Sox fan I feel the rays deserve a better fan base (nothing against the current fans but they cant even fill stadiums and watch parties when they're the best team in the AL and in the playoffs).

if this is an actual Rays-sponsored event that is just embarrassing. for an MLB team in contention with a multi-million dollar marketing budget, to have a sparsely-attended pizza party in an abandoned Pirates of the Caribbean ride...just yuck. the mascot is leaning on the stage looking bored. there is no music in the background. the lighting is dark like a community theater run of Into the Woods. i've said it before and i'll say it again--Tampa Rays are one of the worst-run teams in baseball. they're darn lucky to have the players they have. it reminds me of the owner in Major League who wants the team to relocate so minimal effort is put into anything. i'm surprised they managed that lame $10 Walmart inflatable baseball in front.

The call was correct, but I don't like the rule. In my opinion, if it bounces off a player then it should be ruled out of play (not a ground rule double) and up to umpire discretion which base the runner gets. Btw, what were there - two dozen people there? Rays fans need to get their stuff together or soon they're going to be cheering for the Expos.
