Three years ago, when Jodie Hazlewood bought her Victorian flat in Nottingham with her partner, Olly, it was a dark space with small rooms and low ceilings. So she set about knocking down walls, removing the false ceilings and filling the new spaces with fabrics and furniture she found while scrolling Instagram. In just six months, her new home was finished - and she had a legion of fans who had followed the renovations on her Instagram account @thehouseupstairs. Now she welcomes you into her home in this video tour.

This home is not instagram inspired! Sourcing on instagram from unique sellers doesnt make it instagram inspired! Instagram inspired homes have no originality! I dont understand why you would call such an eclectic and tastefully done, maximalist style home, instagram inspired! That is so insulting to this home owner.

I actually gasped with delight when I saw the hidden coffee bar nook near the bath; what an absolute joy this house is; truly the most thoughtful layering of pattern and texture. I adore it all!

I love everything there except the bath. I think a bath belongs in a bathroom and am not keen on putting it out in the open where you relax and read and possibly watch something on a screen. Great if you're living by yourself but tricky if there's another person sharing the space - but that's me. But she's done a fabulous job overall.

Wonderful eye for colour, texture, and patina. Really comfortable living space.Somewhere to hang out and relax into. Wonderful sense of how you would actually live rather than an overly styled show home with no space to breathe. Thank you for sharing with us.

This is so true: my father-in-law put hardboard over his panelled doors to modernise them, and his neighbours were so impressed, they did the same!

beautiful home, pretty happy. the white and green austrian ceramics it is called Gmundner Keramik ( from 1492 until now) i love it and i have a couple of things that i treasure dearly.

I gasped at how beautiful the bedroom is! The colours are soooo pretty and it looks so cozy yet like fresh and bright and blue is my absolute favourite colour. The whole house is so beautiful and looks so comfy. I really love that there are so many details that are important to her, it makes the house so much more personal!

Hi Jodie, the pottery is called “Gmunden”pottery where it is made in Austria. We also have a huge collection of it in our family. I spotted the vase immediately - it’s so distinctive! This is so lovely to see, you have great style 😍

This is absolutely gorgeous Jodie! Such a change from what young influencers are all doing with standard grey kitchen, standard plastic olive tree in corner, standard chopping boards stacked, standard everything! Here you've injected warmth, personality, individuality and depth in this home, you've told a story rather than make everything bland. Beautiful! Love the upstairs layout, bedroom, dressing room and bath with the surprise coffee making cupboard. Where is the loo upstairs? I really admire your picture/paintings/maps layout. I believe that this stimulation is necessary in a house,, and the personal touches are what make it a home.

FYI- The "peeler" from Thailand is actually a shredder/grater used as a short cut for green papaya and carrots to make the traditional Thai Somtum salad.
