60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, began its 52nd season in September. The program still averages more than 10 million viewers, more than double the audience of its nearest network news magazine competitor. The average audience for a 60 Minutes broadcast is 150% higher than those of the network morning news programs; the audience dwarfs the number of viewers drawn by the most popular cable news programs.
About a million more people listen to the 60 Minutes radio simulcast in several major cities and on its companion podcast. Tens of thousands each week experience 60 Minutes online. @Haeuptling Aberja we need two parties. The Republican Party was not always what it is today. They have failed to pull in their most radical elements and have destroyed themselves. There were once moderate and liberal Republicans capable of working out solutions with Democrats. For the most part, having two parties made the country better.

@@libertyresearch-iu4fy Perhaps I should have been clearer. To be sure, I'm a Dem. I haven't voted Republican in 30 years. And I couldn't agree more that "the differences have never been starker." The point I was trying to make, in as few words as possible, is that we all should think critically and not simply vote one way because that's what we've always done. I know far too many people that are voting Rep. simply because that's how they identify themselves. They don't follow politics. They don't have a clue as to what is going on. They are just doing what they've always done and they aren't even sure why they've always done that. It's just how they identify. My message is: God, family, country. Not God, family, political party.

My mother-in-law is 96 years old and has never in her life voted for a Democrat. She has re-registered as an Independent and tells me she's voting a straight Blue ticket all the way down. When she said she'd never seen the country this bad off, I asked how that could be, since she'd been in her 20s when WWII took place. She answered that yes, we were at war then, but we pulled together as one nation. There are millions of Republicans just like her -- good people sickened by the spectacle in the White House. Country before Party.

@j a, you are so deluded it is both sad and disgusting. Throughout the months of February and March Trump and the right-wing propagandists repeatedly said the coronavirus was "fake news." They said it was "a hoax concocted by the Democrats" to hurt Trump politically. Rush Limbaugh famously said it was the common cold. Well, the orange clown gave Bob Woodward 18 hours of interviews where we learned that Trump KNEW way back in January that the coronavirus was real and far more deadly than the flu. He knew it. He should have been taking steps to contain it like Obama and Biden contained two or three other viruses. By Trump’s lies and inaction, he tanked our economy. To this day they still have no national plan because he doesn't want to take responsibility for it. You are nothing but a sucker being played by a con-man. What a fool.

The republican party has changed. They stood behind a bigoted con man and fool who has no respect for the Constitution or the laws of the land. They never tried to stop all his horrid actions and words. The party is a soulless empty shell of what it use to be. They had a chance to redeem themselves by impeaching Trump but they supported the lawlessness. They offered no real defense of his innocents. When paperwork and people get subpoenaed and your president denies them to congress, that’s obstruction of justice. When your president tweets about a witness as she is testifying, that’s witness tampering. If trump wasn’t president he would have been convicted with Michael Cohen. Trump is listed as "unindicted co-conspirator". The Southern District of NY is investigating him and his business for tax and bank fraud and more. He stole from his kids cancer charity. NY Supreme Court ordered shut down and stopped trump family from operating any other charities. He stole tuition from people for trump university that didn’t exist He’s so crooked US banks wouldn’t lend him money. After all that the republicans let him run on their ticket for president!!!! This is what the party has devolved to. This is why so many have left the party. Who can vote for a party that represents only lies and conspiracy rhetoric? How can you ask your children to side with “the good people” of white supremacist terrorist groups? The republican party has shown the world what they have become.
