In my opinion I think Nate is secretly in love with Jules when he had his dream while being in the hospital he saw Jules multiple times I think he does love MADDY to the bone but I think him coming to therms with his sexuality screwed with his head now Cassie is a stepping stone to Jules when they walked down the hallway together Cassie looked like MADDY then a hint of Jules and he had that nightmare of Jules and his father if he wasn’t talking about her why are you having a dream with her in it but that’s my opinion.

Cassie and Lexi did not experience the same trauma growing up. They both lost their dad but Cassie also got used by her boyfriend and had videos and photos of her leaked. I think that has more to do with her actions this season than daddy issues. And it’s weird that people don’t realize that like….are we all watching the same show? Nate made fun of her the most and I think him validating her made her obsessed with him. Also she got an abortion… I think that really messed her up.

But this is also link to her father being absent alltogheter (i hate the word daddy issues, it has been used to dehuminaze/sexualise young women with mental issues). Cassie has never have any good, decent relationship with me tbh, starting with her dad, her male relatives (in S1 one of them was literally groping her and complimenting her beauty). Then she become a teenager, and started dating. But she still did not solve any of her issues. Non of her boyfriends loved her or cared for her, they only prayed on her vulnerability and deep need for love and acceptance. I see all of her issues as a result of her absent father, but also her own choiches and inresolved mental issues. I pity her a lot, she deserve better

right. she’s always been objectified and used for sex, reduced to her body, yet slut-shamed nonetheless. and it’s to such an extent that she herself believes that she isn’t worthy of love unless she offers sex, or that all she is worth is what her body provides for other men. she’s never had a true, loving relationship where people really care about her and that’s all she’s ever wanted. it’s incredibly sad that people dislike her so much. and her sister perpetuated those rumors about her. cassie was even coerced into things she didn’t wanna do, such as sex tapes or nude photos. people need to understand that when they say “she fucked maddy’s abuser”, maddy was fucking someone who had always made fun of her best friend. they both have their reasons for dating nate and both reasons are sad and none involve rationality or self preservation, i wish people understood that, yknow?

i think the reason why cassie coped in a very different way than lexie was because of her appearance. Cassie was “the pretty one”, the one with big boobs and the one that was best friend with maddie. She was also the popular. She was given a lot more attention a lot earlier in her life, and it gave her the validation and attention she had just recently lost from her father. I feel like lexie went through the healing process and “therapied” it out but cassie just got addicted to validation from other males and she just replaced what her father didn’t give her.

cassie's been sexualized so much that she uses sex as a token of love, which is why she's made up the story of nate loving her when all they do is have sex. plus that scene in season one of daniel telling her that anyone who says they're interested in her beyond just sex is full of shit just tore her down more than her dad, nate, mckay, being touched inappropriately by family members, and her pictures/videos getting leaked. i see alot of myself in cassie (aside from the best friend drama) from the father issues to over sexualizing myself to feel like i'm worth something. cassie is dead wrong for doing that to maddie and for trying to discredit rue based on her addiction to save her own ass, but i understand why she does the self destructive behaviors that she does. she's hurt and is acting off of what she believes will get someone to like her. she feels like sex is all she's worth and she's using sex as her basis for love because it's all she's ever known.

She also unconsciously is attracted to anyone that gives her a small amount of attention, like her sister Cassie. She never showed any interest in Fez during the entire first season and they barely interacted with each other on screen, so when she actually gets to know him and talk to him she starts to develop feelings for him, since he’s visibly the only boy that the audience has ever seen actually get to know her more as a person and show interest in her. When she showed up to his job, she was dressed nicely for him, not for herself. She wanted to impress him, not wear anything that she felt comfortable in. She also was super jealous when she saw Faye in the store, but tried to conceal it. Her and Cassie are quite similar in their behaviors around potential love interests. However, Lexi is way less sexualized than Cassie and even stated that she didn’t want to be known for her body like Cassie is. She can be quite judgmental or too blunt, but it’s from all of the anger that she’s been bottling up inside of her. She fights with her words, not her actions. Both her and Cassie experienced the same life altering event of their father being addicted to drugs and abandoning them as well as their mom being a former alcoholic, but those experiences shaped them in different ways and they express their trauma in different ways. This feels a lot like my relationship with my older sister. We both experienced trauma (not all at the same time of course), but she was always the reckless sibling with mediocre grades, while I was the introverted innocent kid with outstanding grades. The way that I handle my trauma is through my writing (mainly school essays bc I love to overshare) or through my art, while my sister expresses her trauma in ways that I find quite unhealthy and sometimes toxic. Sorry for the long rant lol, I had a lot to say.

it’s interesting how people ask why lexi is totally fine when cassie seems fucked, fact is tho lexi became so extremely introverted shown in lexi’s own narration like rue does as well as the play, she’s so in her head about things. Alternatively, cassie took the spotlight of attention because of how others sexualised her from such a young age and she learns that is her easiest way to earn validation from others and therefore has no need to dig any deeper. i just think that lexi is just as damaged as cassie but in a way that isn’t as obvious

Yep. Lexi is just an internalizer and Cassie is an externalizer. Most ppl just don’t recognize Lexi’s problems bc they’re not physically noticeable. Learned that in therapy actually and I’m more of an internalized myself so I immediately recognized the quality in Lexi. Ppl never realize my problems bc I’m not physically crying or expressing myself but that doesn’t mean it’s not there.

I think what made me feel bad the most was that Maddy was truly heartbroken by what Cassie did. Like maddy was not surprised that this is something Nate would do, but she didn’t expect that from her best friend, someone that she confided in. Maddy was obviously most mad at her because it was CASSIE who did that behind her back. Also, it’s embarrassing how Cassie never paid Nate any mind but the minute that she finds out that Maddy and him are not dating and he’s paying one minuscule amount of attention, she doesn’t care about her friendship and loyalty to Maddy. That’s fucked up.

Nate played on Cassie’s abandonment and attachment issues and she fell hard. I think Cassie is the perfect embodiment of the phrase “men use love for sex and women use sex for love” (not inherently, it’s something taught through media and our society promotes it). I also think it’s good that we’re seeing this side of Cassie. A lot of men like using the insult “fatherless behavior” towards women that are just existing with an opinion that differs from theirs, but I think Cassie is a great representation of how the lack of a parent (specifically a fatherless for a daughter due to abandonment) can cause said child to look for the validation they weren’t given by their father in intimate relationships, it’s also a great way to show that it isn’t their fault that their parent left and in turn, traumatized them in doing so, but shows how that trauma can manifest into certain behaviors. I think it’s a good way to combat the misogynistic narrative we have about “fatherless” women and the idea that the way their trauma shows itself is somehow their fault. Her abandonment issues aren’t an excuse for her behavior at ALL, but it’s definitely an explanation. I really love the show, shines a light on problems that haven’t been thoroughly talked about when it comes to family dynamics and how we internalize trauma.

It’s honestly so hard to admit that I’m basically a Cassie. I’m my life I’ve changed myself for a guy who I wanted to change but didn’t so I did and lost myself in the process. My childhood trauma of my dad leaving and my mom being basically absent really affected my mental health I developed a personality disorder called BPD and the main symptom of that is fear of abandonment so I’ll go to extreme lengths to make sure it doesn’t happen and I’ll stay in toxic relationships. It also comes with self harm tendencies and rapid mood swings and a bunch of other stuff but I started to self harm at the age of 4 I attempted before I was 18 and it’s seriously something that I can’t control so seeing someone like Cassie really puts it in perspective and my heart really goes out to her honestly wish I could be there to support her I think she needs it. Also I’m so happy your being so optimistic I don’t know what’s going on in your personal life but your feelings are completely valid take the time and keep taking care of yourself beautiful your so important

She wants to be loved so bad because of her daddy issues that she’s willing to throw away any relationship to have that love. And I can’t stand when people say her behavior came out of nowhere. It was stated in season 1 how much she fell in love and wanted to be loved. Plus she literally just had a abortion which obviously plays into why she’s so emotionally unstable this season. She’s trying to numb the pain of the abortion and of her dad leaving by trying to find someone to love her. Also people have always sexualized her (even her mom) and she’s had her nudes leaked which is awful and also plays a big factor into why she acts the way she does. I think people need to stop acting like she did all of this just to do it. That being said Maddy deserves so much better too. I want both of them to get the help they need.

Regarding having an absent father, my father was in and out of my life similar to Cassie and Lexi’s father. Surprisingly, I definitely related to Lexi in her lack of romantic relationships throughout high school. Perhaps that was due to me attending an all girls school but I definitely don’t see myself in a relationship…ever due to my father.

I wish that we had more on Cassies and Lexis relationship with their mom. There is a scene in season one where Lsxi basically emphasizes that their mom was much more fixated on Cassie (bc of her looks) and that Lexi tells Cassie that always gives her reassurance about her beauty. I don't think Cassie has been given space to be taken seriously or heard outside of her "appeal" to characters and the audience. This parallels her breakdown with her mom saying she can "fucking feel it" when she thinks ppl don't think she respects herself

Cassie is trash for what she did to Maddie, but I think she’s suffering from an addiction, too. Like Rue, she’s willing to alienate/hurt her loved ones if it means getting her fix. They’re both desperately trying to fill the void their fathers left, just by different means.

Honestly everyone including myself liked and felt bad for Cassie in season 1. But I feel like there’s a difference between characters like ,Rue and Maddy, versus Jules and Cassie. Rue and Maddy seem to be honest about who they are as people. Rue is aware of the fact that she isn’t a good person. On episode 5 she said “You wish I was different, so do I. You hate me, so do I.” But Cassie didn’t even seem bad about messing with Nate behind Maddy back. She seemed more scared of getting her ass beat rather than losing a friendship with Maddie. I think that’s what really sealed the deal for me. And then she had the nerve to say Lexi had no self respect for being friends with Rue to try deflect the fact she been acting like a clown. Also I think daddy issues plays a part in her desperation for male attention but I can’t use that as excuse for doing her best friend like that.

Maddie isn’t honest about who she is. She tries to justify her behavior like the rest of them. She does the same thing but people excuse it because she’s portrayed as a spicy Latina. She’s been held to a different standard. All of them are. They all go through similar experiences (SA and a need for validation) and we all have a unique unempathic blind spot with all of them. The only one who doesn’t is Lexi but she has her own set of issues because she isolates and is envious of their experiences when she shouldn’t be.
@prettygirl6994
@prettygirl6994 2 жыл бұрын
@@taylorbew1854 I disagree and I even forgot Maddie was even Latina at points considering she barely fits into that Stereotype. She gives me more “mean girl” than anything else. If a character isn’t willing to acknowledge their flaws then they won’t have any character development. Maddie actually has character development in season 2 compared to season 1. She’s a much better friend now than ever. Cassie clearly cannot grasp the idea of her being selfish and a pick me stemming from her daddy issues. Once she’s willing to accept who she actually is, then she can grow into a better person. People are allowed to have flaws but they need to be honest about who they are because that’s the only way they able to change. Also people are allowed to not like a character for having no character development just the same way people coddle Cassie because they so stuck on how she was in season 1.

Okay so. I grew up in a home and had an absent father my entire childhood. I did not have a high school experience like Cassie, if anything I was more like Lexie. However, Cassie and Lexie are not dissimilar in that they both highly crave attention - they just have very different ways of trying to receive that attention. For Cassie, once she hit puberty (having blossomed young), she received that attention through men. For Lexie, she did receive that type of sexualization from men; therefore, she did not learn to seek attention from men as she didn't get it there. Instead, she learned to get attention by standing out from her sister, as contrastingly as possible. In Lexie's mind, she did this by separating herself from the image Cassie created for herself, and saught attention through establishing herself as this responsible, smart, creative person and then, once she felt she was still being overlooked by those around her, wrote an entire play surrounding her life from her point of view. Either way - both girls desire attention from people to make up for their dad not being around. Even Lexie isn't free from male validation as she even tried to "reinvent" herself a bit following the first time she met Fez. It became her desire to impress him. She found someone, a man, who would put her on a pedestal and value her traits (being a "good girl", intellectual, etc), that set her "apart" from her peers. The truth of daddy issues, the most present trait of those who have daddy issues in dating, is chasing after those who don't want you. If a guy rejects you or if it is difficult to get a man, people who struggle with abandonment issues will take this and view it as a challenge. Because they weren't enough and couldn't do enough to keep their dad around, you bet your booty they're not going to allow someone they feel that they want... not want them back, as they've already felt this pain plenty of times. (This contributes to eating disorders actually. Daughters of absent fathers are highly likely to struggle with eating as they search for being perfect for a man/man, and are willing to put themselves through that physical and emotional pain in order to "win" the person they're after). And innately, saw their mom "lose" the challenge of keeping her man. For Cassie, Nate was the biggest challenge. She wanted to prove to herself that she could get this guy, this guy who is some sort of "star-crossed" lover, someone she would have to battle for, someone who has been extremely "passionate" in love in the past. Because of how she saw him love Maddie, a type of love she's always wanted, she thought that he wouldn't leave her if she fully gave herself to him, emotionally and physically. Because, in order to love him, they both had to hurt as well (because they had to go through their situation with Maddie), they had to surrender and struggle, she sees this as climbing some sort of mountain together. They climbed a mountain to be together, they love each other wholly, he loves her and even for her crazy... She wants a man, who she feels like she won, who won't leave her, and she feels that to have this, she has to give her life completely to the man she wants.

In the US. I was a Cassie but didn't have a Maddy. I was used for my body a lot like her. I dated a McKay type before my Nate. I was deceived into being a side chick by "Nate", a master manipulator, psychological abuser and dark soul. I moved across the country from my Nate. Its been 3 years since I saw him. Its been 2 years since I've gone no contact with my toxic father as well (who was an addict and not around when I was little - he later disowned me in 2020). I am doing my best to heal from loving, being abused by and losing both toxic men. Its a lonely journey. Other than the side chick experience, I've been single for years. But I'm also 32 and not a teenager. Just doing my best.

Even though I definitely can relate to Lexi more, I still feel for Cassie. You see in season 1 just how badly she wants to be loved and just ends up getting used physically, then in season 2 you watch her fall even lower because of that desire. Her decisions were wrong, and her insistence that she's not on the wrong made her a bit annoying, but I still want better for her. I think sometimes its hard to watch someone who is embarrassing themselves like that because it reminds us of things we've done or even contemplating doing for someone to notice us. She's more relatable and than a lot of people want to admit, and I think that gets in the way of some people empathizing with her.

The thing that pisses me off is the fact it seems like nobody can sympathize with Cassie without them being accused of condoning her behavior. Cassie went through a lot in season one so it’s understandable for her to be acting the way she is acting this season. Nothing that has happened in season 2 has surprised me because it all adds up with what we were told in season one. So the fact that people are treating her character the way they are is wild to me. They are treating Cassie like she killed fez grandma or something. Don’t get me wrong, what she was fucked up on multiple levels because Nate disrespected her for years and abused her best friend physically and mentally to the point that I’m concerned for Maddie’s mental health. She’s annoying as hell and be trying to play victim all the time but you cannot deny the fact that something is seriously wrong with Cassie. I don’t believe that she did what she did to spite Maddie, I think she did it because she liked the way that Nate made her feel and would do anything to keep that feeling. I do wanna say that she should’ve had enough respect for Maddie and their relationship to open the door but she didn’t and personally that shit was just sad. She fucked and continues to fuck her bestfriend’s abusive ex but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve some sympathy. If you can forgive Maddie after she said that man raped her, if you can forgive Kat after she stood up her heartbroken friend to suck some dick and if you forgive drug addicted rue for hitting her sister and threatening her mother then you forgive or at least grant Cassie a little bit of sympathy because every individual in that show has done some questionable or horrible ass stuff (except for Ethan). It seems like the only reason why people sympathize with rue is because she has drug addiction and has had it hard growing up but doesn’t extend the same privilege to the real life drug addicts and that tells me that someone has to have a “good enough” to be granted sympathy and that just ain’t right. Rue, Maddie, Lexi, Kat, Jules, etc. deserves to be granted some sympathy and forgiveness because it is not up to you or anyone for that matter to judge someone and tell them that what they have done is unforgivable. One thing that you can take away from euphoria, if you are open to, is that everything isn’t so black and white and there is more to people than what it seems.

Unrelated to Cassie (I think): I think Lexi had bad intentions with this play. She kept on telling Fez that she wanted everyone to know her intentions were good. However at the end of the day she made a spectacle of everyone's problems in front of everyone. Especially Cassie and Nate. That's not going to get them to understand what they did is wrong, that's gonna make them never want to talk to you again. With that being said, it's not really a bad thing that Lexi had bad intentions. Cassie was really mean to her many times and the choices she's making right now are terrible. And Nate... is Nate. Lexi has every right to hate him, even if he never spoke to her before. He needed to be taken down a few notches honestly, and so did Cassie.

He did leave during that time but it was for a better job, he never really left me tho. Fast forward to right after I graduated my mom (who was abusing drugs at the time) straight up left me do deal with her apparent and jail debts. Legally I didn’t have to because I was underage when we moved in/when she went to jail, but the point is she left. I haven’t spoken to her since and it’s been almost 5 years. The people in high school who used to call my dad a deadbeat deserves to be slapped, because he’s always been her for me. I'm 24 - one of the very few differences between Cassie and I is the fact that I did fall for my friend's manipulative & narcissist ex, however, I told the truth after we went on our first date and decided to pursue things with each other. I looked my friend in the eye and told her, and I was the target of tons of social media hate from girls who had been my friend prior. I was body shamed and trauma shamed (a lot of my "friends" knew me well enough to know what I had been through prior to engaging in the relationship. I'm healing now, but the quote "He showed me all the right attention at the wrong time." really rings true. I was in a friend group of people who I knew were fake and not true friends, I was feeling extremely alone in life and my ex saw that. I had never been put through so much for loving someone before.

I loved this like, video essay, and to see you posting again and things seem to be getting better (personally for you)? After listening to you, I’m thinking that Nate was a predator towards Cassie in episode 1 of season 2, and Cassie… she’s in SHOCK after she leaves the bathroom and sees Lexi and Maddy jumps into hugging her. Very much stunned. So I think to justify what she did, she wants to convince herself that she’s in love. And that is very easy for her to convince herself of, given her trauma. And when Maddy wasn’t supportive of Cassie saying she wanted to try being single, that probably hit. So when she was sad, Nate saw an opportunity and basically re-accentuated what Maddy said to Cassie, by saying to Cassie, “You’re a relationship girl, right?” Kinda further pushing out her idea of trying personal growth and being single - because it’s often easier to meet people’s expectations and molds of what they see you as, it’s “safer” And maybe in a twisted way he sees Cassie wanting to give love as a polarity to what he’s experienced in his life and the trauma brought on through his father and other things and how he’s “coped”… but he’s really just recreating it by becoming his father in a sense (control). When he asked that to Cassie, it’s like, he thought he wanted a partner, but he really wanted someone who he could control and would be submissive to him. Which contrasts his connection to Jules, because she was kind to him without knowing it was him and he confided into her fully without (nullifying the whole “power and control” aspect of a connection between people; which is why I also think a Nate+Jules thing didn’t happen this season like some people felt would’ve been better… because when Nate tried to control/assert dominance over Jules at the carnival, she was like, “immediately, no”).

While my father has not left, he has done many traumatic things that have followed me throughout my life. I don’t agree with Cassie’s behavior, but I understand where it developed from. not the one to deep euphoria, but I can't help but feel like Cassie resembles Katherine Howard (yes the fifth wife of Henry VIII, and no not just bc of the surname). Both of their proximity to the male gaze took ahold of their emotional vulnerability and has ultimately destroyed them. Ofc Katherine's stakes were on an astronomically higher level and was undeniably sexually assaulted (that's not up for debate she was a CHILD), however their downfall and them being pushed into feeling of being trapped which is only enforced on them by a narcissistic abuser is just incredibly reminiscent. I also must say I despise people who shit on Cassie over Nate and Cal and use the excuse it's expected behavior from them???? what you can excuse the behavior of an abuser and a pedophile but cannot sympathize with the girl who falls victim to said abuser??? sounds misogynistic to me.

i wouldn't be surprised if cassie's repeated disdain for rue because of her drug addiction is because it runs in her own family. her mum's a functioning alcoholic, her dad's an addict and left the family - i think despite her craving for male validation, she just can't yet bring herself to feel angry at her dad for leaving and i think the beginnings of that show in her vitriol towards rue. not healthy beginnings, for sure, but i think she needs to learn to be angry that she was abandoned in favour of drugs and stop clinging onto these false happy memories of her father. i don't want to compare how they deal with their trauma, but the difference in perspective from cassie and lexi is astounding. cassie's memories of her father are light and happy and from a time when she was doing better and was somewhat healthy, but from lexi's perspective - seeing her dad driving drunk and sleeping during the day - i can't imagine how terrifying that is to see someone you love become that way and it must have hurt a thousand times more when rue OD'd too. i think lexi is just a lot more logically and perceptively driven than she is emotionally driven and she can pick up on certain things others don't because, as she would describe herself, she's a passive observer whereas cassie is an active doer. cassie is so much more emotional by nature, she clings onto happy memories and craves male validation so hard that her attitude towards drugs and people who are addicted to drugs is incredibly toxic. everyone except for her dad, well, because everyone has a little nepotism to give away. i just don't think cassie is very good at reconciling the fact that she clearly and dearly loves her dad and the memory of this perfect man in her life who would guide her (hence why she so easily folds and submits to men in return for validation) and her anger at her abandonment in favour of drugs. she does everything she can not to let go of those memories because from her perspective what other happiness has she got now? she digs deeper and deeper and deeper and becomes addicted to that validation and in the process she physically can't get out and can't reasonably find out why she should so she keeps going until she's pushed all of her friends away, her family away and her boyfriend breaks up with her. there is no happiness left for her, no validation at all, there is no validation for her actions from anyone and nobody sympathises with her and rightfully so. she's an asshole and ruined her friendship so she could get with a man. not just any man, but a closeted abuser who she should know for a fact falsely had those DV charges dropped. nate's actions even mirror her dad's later on when she knew him - not paying her much attention up until the garage visit, the drunk driving, the meeting or conversing on the down low, the fact that once she even gets a drip of validation she latches onto it like a lost puppy. she is a pathetic wet rag of a woman and i think in more ways she's been the primary antagonist this season moreso than nate. while nate is definitely the main antagonist of the show (which, even then some people could sympathise with him because of the irreversibly deep trauma he experienced so young and his internalised homophobia), his abuse continues this season primarily through cassie like a catalyst. cassie is essentially the product of what nate jacobs does to women, on the blankest, most vulnerable and traumatised and depraved canvas he could find.

Before my mom walked out on me and my sister, her love was always conditional, so I spent most of my life being the daughter she wanted me to be, rather than who I wanted to be. Because of that, I find myself trying to change who I am in desperation to be loved. I feel so much for her trying to change who she is to be loved. I obviously don't condone what she's doing, but I understand where her heart is in this, and it pains me so much to see what she's doing and going through.

I hate people who always come for girls for having Daddy issues, not saying that's what Keisha was doing, but Boys have daddy issues too. And why come for the girl, I've been watching period shows and men never change, they do the wrong, and women are held accountable.

You’re 100% correct. I was on track to become a soccer player professional but I stopped because my dad passed away. I’ve never touched a ball since bc we used to train together. And he was my best friend. As for Lexi when my dad passed I put my all into school I’ve never dated because I am still chasing those goals. I’m about to graduate from university and I have worked super hard to be successful. I mean I have a job lined up right after but I say this to say I worked so hard after he passed to keep my family together and work hard towards my future.

As a person who doesn't have a dad and with friends who don't I feel like it's different for everyone. I am fully aware of how some girls without dads seek male validation whereas some use their lack of a father figure as an excuse to give hate towards men.

That bathroom scene of Cassie having like a breakdown and then trying to compose herself…great acting right there, I was going to choose Jacob Elordi too as the best actor, but Sydney Sweeney kind of raised the ball there with that scene 👌

Cassie had been sexualized so much that she ended up sexualizing herself too just so people would like her. It isn't her fault it's the way the society treats women. Also this might be a very controversial statement but I hated how Cassie was portrayed in Lexi's play. Through out the show we never see Cassie being rude or shady towards Lexi until the very moment when shit breaks lose when everyone finds out about Nate. Cassie had been encouraging her to be more social and even said "some guys like that" when Lexi had expressed her discomfort with how she doens't look as attractive as Cassie (in her head). Not for a second did it feel like Cassie hated/shaded Lexi but Lexi portrayed her as this mean/ rude older sister. Also Lexi mocked Cassie for asking if she looked good enough or not which was disgusting because just cause she thinks Cassie is pretty doesn't mean Cassie can not have insecurities. Cassie probably was nervous and wanted to ask her sister for help but here we have Lexi mocking her in front of everyone. Next I'd like to talk about the carousel moment Lexi had in the play. Lexi wasn't their to see Cassie do that, wasn't she helping Rue find Gia? If the play is supposed to be her life story and how she rememebers everything, how did she incorporate a piece she wans't even present to see? Now assuming she had heard about it from others, why did she skip the part where Cassie had taken molly? it was why she was so out of her mind, so to skip that but keep the orgasm and all was a low blow. The play was very very problematic. What happened to not assuming people's sexuality or outing them even if we know. No matter how disgusting Nate is and how much we all hate him, that last bit of him being gay according to the play was unnecessary and disrespectful. Ngl I did enjoy it when I watched it but afterwards when I was thinking about it I realized how disgusting it actually was.

Exactly!! It was fun to watch as a play on a tv show but it was annoying to see everyone loving Lexi for it, like its such a shitty thing to expose all that shit to your entire school I don't mind Lexi but imo she's like wayy too liked LMAO like everyone acts like she's an angel when she's just like everyone else (which isn't bad ofc)

@@parint1ns Exactly! Lexi is also just as insecure and maybe a little less problematic then the others. If it wasn't Nate but someone other charcater she would have mocked that way in the play everyone would have been so mad.

Looking deeper/beyond the surface level to why people are the way they are and why they act the way they do is levels to remaining empathetic towards the trauma people have endured, & struggles/pain they have faced. It doesn’t mean you condone or excuse their behaviour but like with Cassie, you can see some insight and gain understanding to why she seeks so much validation, and is constantly looking for love outside of herself. Praying for her to recognise this in season 3, and seek the help she needs 💚

I think apart from the obvious reason ppl tend to side for Cassie .. I think more than anything women tend to relate to this constant oversexualization from society and ppl including Lexi( love her though) who tend to think that their modesty gives them better morals( not that Lexi has gone to lengths as Cassie obviously out of the 2 Lexi is not as bad) but Cassie needs to get it together and she is responsible for her actions

I heard that the actor playing McKay wasn't following covid protocols so he wasn't able to be part of S2 as much as they originally intended. Also I think that after McKay was too insecure to reach out to Cassie after he got hazed at college in front of her.

one hundred percent understand the daddy issues situation. it took me years to identify my own. and risen in a black household / community, we're kinda conditioned to ignore, suppress, or make jokes about often detrimental problems like this. now, I've never used them to excuse my behavior and decision making as an adult, but I have recognized patterns in my life where I've felt the need to be validated by people who didn't even know me that well. and craving male attention in placement of the lack of a fatherly role in my life. I never knew how bad it was and how deep it ran until I began doing some of the most ridiculous, shameful things for crumbs of affection. 😅 much like Cassie is here. I see eye to eye with her. I was rooting for her this season. but of course, we can't excuse all of this away. while I do want her to get her ass beat, I sympathize. 😂

i acc love cassie's character and i relate to her a lot. I don't agree with some of her actions, but I love how complexicated she is, even though she doesn't admit to her wrongs, she does what she wants, and stands for what she loves and wants. Also, I feel like I've seen at some many times people put on facades for the sake of friend ship and are never happy, even though what she's doing is wrong, she will end up reaping the consequences, and she will without the pressure.

I love every character in Euphoria, even Nate, yes NATE. They're like a sibling or friend you have this love-hate relationship with them, one minute your rooting for them and another you just can't and I think that's what makes them so realistic. Can't wait for Ep 8.

Of course abusers get love. Also, while Maddie is responsible for what she’s done, let’s not forget she was in an abusive relationship and that includes emotional abuse. Framing that dude was hugely on Nate, he literally pulled a “if you don’t do this you will ruin my life”

I love your hair. If you ever feel inclined to, I would love to see what your hair would look as magenta or green! Otherwise, I'm glad you did what you could to take care of your emotional wellbeing and rest. :) Love the track btw! I would love to hear your other thoughts on the other characters. I don't like Lexi much but I would love to understand the character better. I think this is because the way I cope with my own abandonment flavored daddy issues is closer to Cassie than to Lexi. Also, missing McKay this season and I wish we could have explored his relationship with masculinity more. :( Sorry; I'm trying not to write an essay in the comments but nonetheless, I love the vid.
