Found it a bit presumptuous "telling" the director to "summarize it for me". But perhaps I just get triggered when people don't ask nicely. All in all good interview but unfotunately no surprising questions.

I agree with you but my heart is divided after I watched Pain and Glory with Antonio Banderas. I really hate that both movies are made in the same year. I really want Oscars to Joaquin and Antonio, they are very very very very emotional in their characters. Again, I will hate Academy members vote in that hard decission. Obviously if they are nominated.

I’m so glad that Joaquin enjoyed making this film and that he would actually show up an hour early just because he was so excited about it and just wanted to keep going. Just when i thought Heath Ledger's performance was unsurpassable, here comes Joaquin Phoenix!!! Not that Joaquin's performance is better than Heath's or vice versa but both delivered very different facades of this fascinating character of Joker, both are iconic!!! Kudos to Todd Philips for delivering this in the most raw and authentic way!!! Have never seen a movie with so many iconic moments as this one!!! Touching deep into the soul...

Sadly, there are some who haven't been afforded that control. Please be careful with the generalizations, they do much more harm then good. Not all of us have that choice.

You know that a Character is portrayed perfectly when you become emotional at the turning point. The scene where The Joker makes his bloody smile it absolutely broke my heart. I mean yeah of course we already knew what was going to happen but the way Joaquin portrays Aurthers life and struggles is such an emotional rollercoaster that you actually care for the character and that turning point just felt really emotional to me. Ugh, hard to explain.

Its pretty much the only time in this movie that you see him truly happy. And of course, everything around him is burning. What struck me the hardest was when he was on the sub-way and he couldn't stop his pathological laughter when the business thugs were harassing him and that lady. The laugh looked so much like he wanted to cry but he just couldn't. It was like watching grown men gang stomping on an injured puppy. It made me feel sick.

I'm a grown ass man and when he read his mother's file from the mental institution and learned the truth, I cried. It broke my heart. He also tried so hard to be a decent human being. It also resonates because of men and boys being villified by current society with the social narrative. He got kicked around one too many times and society created the monster. Excellent film

Signed. When I first saw it and with the information that people had left theatres I was expecting a totally different movie. Just a psychopathic bloodfest and all so I kind of loathed the slow narration at first and was very ambigous about it. But honestly I also didn't get the twist at the end. Thanks to youtube and my obsessive behaviour towards Batman and therefore Joker I then couldn't wait to see it a second time I was expecting it to appear even slower but that was not the case at all. Just sat there watching a great scene excited to see the next scene at the same time bcause it had no bad scene at all. Loved all of it. And that soundtrack.... damn...

This film is nothing short of an ingenious masterpiece. Joaquin Phoenix's performance is truly one of the best if not the best ever, and I've seen all of the AFI's top 100 and been a movie nerd all my 50 years. Never have I seen anyone so committed to a role, and there have been some great ones. Joker won't displace Citizen Kane, but it will take it's rightful place in Hollywood history as one of the best ever.

Usually there isba lot of fuss created about being in character and then decomposing and all. Ita amazing to see how Joqin is like a through professional juat doing his job and enjoying it while doing it. Thats wat great acting is all about . Playing a character not being one.

I heard that playing insane is one of the most natural roles to play because all people have an insane side to their personalities. For this reason the movie has such honesty and therefore a beauty about it even though the characters were in such deep pain and torment. Maybe it was just the excellent screenplay, superb acting and directing.
