I really think the answer to all the angles or movement or building grid questions are easily answered by how much time he spends boxfighting rather than a controller vs mouse thing. These guys spend all day wager boxfighting, you’re going to know all the angles if you do that no matter your choice of input.

people are saying he doesnt give much information away, but he's showing you how to play the game without overthinking it. overthinking leads to you trying to predict everything, and that can never work out all the time. too many variables. he is thinking at least 2 steps ahead in every situation

This was a very interesting interview. Unknown clearly has a very unique but viable style in this format. Instead of conjuring up a play to always beat someone he watches the opponent and responds to their actions. Instead of looking for good positions to rotate and tunnel he forces people to rotate and creates a path through pressure. Definitely gonna incorporate some of his concepts into my game.

Do more vod reviews with the players. it's more fun to watch but i still really like the input you give yourself balla

This is my favorite VOD review because unknown doesn’t try to impress us here. He is just telling the truth and it shows that he is pretty self reflective to be able to articulate his inner state when he’s in these tourneys. To anyone who wants to get better: remember when you started playing? Remember how quickly you improved? After a while we all hit a plateau and we start watching vods, trying to get a leg up and learn new builds, edits, etc. well here is the secret to why you aren’t improving. As soon as you decided “I’m gonna improve,” you had lost. You’re gonna improve naturally just by playing a ton. You don’t have to do anything special, don’t have to consider every little detail and analyze yourself. Just play the game a LOT and improvement will come. Learning new methods can help and watching the best of the best is important but you’ll get better if you just play. Hope this helps someone who is in the same position I was a while back.

i think the "I just go with the flow" is honestly such an underrated tactic. I think some players, maybe most players, have such a rigid strategy they take into every game that, if something doesnt go exactly how they planned it, they crumble. Unknown's "lack of a strategy" i think works out really well because hes flexible. No matter what happens he has the mindset of being able to just roll with it. Couple that with being extremely confident in every fight he approaches and you can really see why he's so successful in these cups

The reason he does things nobody else can isn’t because of his opponents being bots, it’s him doing things that nobody else would do because usually it wouldn’t work, and nobody would expect it. Like when he used his p90 to spray through a fully built wall of brick and almost killed the guy, he knew the guy was looking the complete other way and wouldn’t even think of anyone shooting him in the back. The difference is most players would go to that wall and try and replace or ar spam. I think he actually is way more calculated than he seems in this video. He knows what’s coming, because it’s already happened to him

This interview made me realize how great of a interviewer Balla is, just constantly asking relevant questions and finding insight behind Unknown's "mechanics over game sense" playstyle. damn now can you make a tutorial on how to ask questions better I need this life skill

I think w keying is better than playing placement because it’s not predictable, you can see unknown rarely goes for the same angle, while people who play placement will box up and you know exactly how’ll they will rotate and fight the box fights..

I enjoyed this video a lot... I acknowledge that unknown is a phenom however I would've liked it if balla challenge some of his ideals a bit more instead of agreeing to everything he mentioned. I wanted to hear more of "why do you think that" instead of "that makes sense". Just so that we can get a further understanding of the logic behind the actions.

When you were talking about boys being unpredictable I felt that because people really do the dumbest things in the console cups and it’s so aggravating because they do things that nobody with a brain would ever do. Like people will sit on top of an early game fight with shields and a blue pump and smg while I have a burst. Like that happened yesterday and he griefed my cup I was on track to place top ten and he stretched that fight out for 2 and a half minutes. He had like 200 mats and every time he would try to come down he would just get hit and run away again. He took so long that somebody else came and got two free kills, and the worst part was he placed top 30. Like why me

And Balla, when he says the movement helps him with angles and not getting shot, it's because when he's trying to slip shots in, he's not limited to WASD to maneuver into the position he needs to be in to get the shot and then move enough to not get shot back. You have more control over where your character goes. And for not getting shot while moving, controller movement is a lot less predictable then keyboard, which basically amounts to using your d-pad for movement. It's literally the same difference between using a dpad vs an analog stick.

26:15 Wrong, linear is more consistent because it detects raw input rather than ramped input. It has nothing to do with look, its 100% consistency.
