When my mother had cancer, she chose hospice care instead of treatment. She wanted to live in the moment and splash out for the first time in her life, and that included shopping at Whole Foods for practically all her groceries (and lots and lots of wine). She ended up living v comfortably and carefree for almost two years 😊

Totally understand your mums thinking, enjoying the time she had how she wanted. I was my mums carer b4 she passed and cooked all her meals. She often said to me at dinner time, she wanted her dessert first. I said mum you can eat what you want in whatever order you want, its your choice. My mum was 81 when she passed and i was just happy that she enjoyed what i prepared, so i didnt care what she wanted to eat first.

It’s interesting how like me Hannah can shop cleverly in low budget stores like Aldi. But hey every now and again we feel decadent in our spending. And suddenly splurge every now and again. Note she examined the Hand made chocolates 🍫, sometimes we have a drive out to Orton , twixt Tebay & Kirkby Steven to visit Kennedy’s Hand made chocolate shop and Cafe Restaurant . Our grandsons used to take a lolly stick because we bought them a fresh fruit puréed chocolate lined ice cream milk shake to take away. Last week fed up of economising , I had a splurge and bought the biggest box of their Home made chocolates. But what the heck . And of course our milk shake . The daughter always orders a box of Kennedy’s hand made chocolates on Fathers Day. Kennedy’s also have a shop nearby in The Lake District . But it’s the milk shakes we need to indulge in too.

Here in the USA, we call it “Whole Paycheck” cause it is really expensive. I usually shop in Whole Foods for the natural Health and Body care and maybe an exotic treat I can’t find in our regular grocery stores. I found your Whole Foods had a ton of American products then I expected , like the Brianna’s Salad Dressing.

Whole Foods is considered expensive in the U.S. too. But I agree that food is generally a bit cheaper in the UK. However buying a home, heating a home, buying Gasoline, and buying electronic items like an iPhone, a PS5, or even a TV is generally quite a bit more expensive in the UK compared to the U.S. 🙂

Having been to the big Whole Foods supermarket in Kensington High Street I can tell you it's overrated. The food isn't very fresh, in fact I saw plenty that was "on the turn" as it were. LOL That was super entertaining! The Whole Foods stores here in the US are normally not that large. At least here in CA. It had WAY more than we normally find, very interesting to see. Very interesting and amusing video today Hannah. American supermarket food prices are nuts. It was $4 for a load of bread in Colorado. I went to Safeway to get what would be my usual picnic sandwich items. At the time those items would set me back tenner in the UK. I'd got about ¾ of what I wanted and did a quick tally. The cost was up to $35. I had to start putting things back for the first time since I was a student. It was SO DEPRESSING! ☹️

More people live in the San Francisco Bay Area than in the entire state of Colorado! 😲 At the local grocery store in my corner of Silicon Valley, a sandwich, chips and a drink is $12 or so, which is about 10 pounds sterling. 🙂

I went to Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Sonar "A" School at Groton Submarine Base. It's technically "New London Submarine Base" but if you ask people in the area, they will be confused, because New London is across the river, and is where the Puddle Pirates (the Coast Guard lmao) have their academy. People not living in the UK need to keep in mind the exchange rate to their own currency so what may seem "cheap" isn't. I think the last time I looked (quite a while ago) to convert Canadian $ to UK $ you doubled the amount. So, 6 pounds for 2 cupcakes is $12 CDN, that full octopus would be about $120 CDN and that 547 pound wine would be over $1000. Just some perspective. Still looks yummy and tempting though LOL>

You’re getting me ready for our trip to the Uk/Europe April 2023. When you went past the drinks cupboards my husband saw Coopers pale ale it’s made where we live, he’s happy 😂 Gina, Adelaide, South Australia. We’d still like to do a picnic from Harrods but we are def more waitrose/tesco people

Watching this from Phoenix Arizona while waiting for my Whole Foods order to be delivered 😂 Grocery prices in Phoenix have gone up a lot, so WF prices aren’t that different from the standard stores. I know I could spend less but I’d have to shop around at several stores to find everything so WF ends up being the most convenient. I’m far from rich, but this is my bit of luxury I guess. I’m amazed at the selection you have there. My WF seems tiny by comparison.

Just got back from two weeks in the UK and as an American, we were so amazed by all the grab n go options. We have a small section in our local supermarket but nothing to compare to the options you have. 🎉

I enjoyed your shopping trip to Whole Foods. Amazing! Such a wide range and variety of food!! The Whole foods store which is a few blocks from my home in San Francisco is small and not that much variety. People used to call them "whole paycheck" because of their high price, but the quality of fresh veggies and fruit is higher than other grocery stores, so I still shop there. Looking forward to your next video❤️

Hi Hannah, another great food vlog. I have to say I was not shocked at the cost. Here in Australia food is expensive and the cost.of living is high. I paid $5 yesterday for a standard loaf of mixed grain bread and another fiver for a standard bar of Cadbury peppermint chocolate not on special, sooo if you are talking about pocket pinch just do your weekly shop here then you will feel the pain. All as I can say is thank God for Aldi. A loaf of mixed grain bread there yesterday $2.98 but they had no stock. Cheers from Melbourne 😊❤👩‍💼

Watching the Whole Foods video and when you got to the cut up watermelon and price I just had to check my container! Here on Long Island NY ( in the most expensive county of NY ) the container was 5.99 a pound so basically the same given the exchange rate at the moment. Whole foods is not known for being the " whole paycheck" store for nothing . LOL But I must say their quality is SO MUCH better than your typical supermarket. If you buy their 365 brand it's better food at a comparable price. AND if you are an Amazon Prime member you get 5% off your order! Thanks Hannah keep these videos coming ...just LOVE you ! Your American fan across the pond !

Here in Texas, where Whole Foods began, the prices are as "high as a cat's back" (as my late Daddy used to say 😉). Hannah, if you're ever in Texas I'll take you to Central Market or HEB to shop...you'll be like, "Whole Foods who?!" Your vlogs are just great, btw. Thank you for all the work you put into them!!❤️

I love watching these videos in Australia!! Thank you 🙏🏻 I have travelled between the UK and Australia multiple times and love your supermarket choices! Brings me back to fond memories of waitrose shopping.. the UK have amazing prepackaged meals or proteins like the prawns, we don’t have that here in Melbourne much.. but the $$ is all relative to your Country and lifestyle. Melbourne is extremely expensive at the moment.. thanks for the great content lovely 🥰

Ole & Steen are the Danish version of Starbucks, but they started as a bakery, so pastries and cake are their forte, rather than the coffee. Not that Starbucks coffee is any good, really. They are everywhere here in Denmark, but they are called Lagkagehuset. The first one ever opened in the very posh neighbourhood of Christianshavn in Copenhagen, in a building that gave it its Danish name, because it looked like a layer cake. I used to live a couple blocks away, that's how I know so much about it😅😂

Delicious food, great variety! I agree with you dear Hannah! Food in the UK is expensive. Here in South-Africa food is also expensive, but interestingly, our meat products are not at all expensive and it is of the highest quality in the world. Fast Foods are very expensive for the average person and is considered “a treat”.
