He was better at kickboxing than muay thai. There have been many better muay thai fighters but not many can beat Buakaw in kickboxing.

@Jerryfan271 thats false. This guy had mastered the old school thai boxing. Most of his matches were kick box rules so people associate him more with kick box. He is a killer muay thai fighter. Arguably the best.

I mean… technically he is. Muay Thai literally means “Thai Boxing”, and he’s obviously not a boxer since his style is heavily based on kicks, so calling him a kickboxer is not incorrect.

@@robinmorales5365 It seems like you are the casual watcher, Elbow's arent allowed under kickbox rules only knees. Where Muay thai you are allowed to use the elbow in different way's as knee's.

@@CiroDiMaRzio12304sigh…. Ok kid, here’s the deal. Elbow strikes are banned by the organization, NOT the discipline, or in this case, the style. For example, K1 banned elbows, but K1 is not a discipline, or a style, but an organization that hosted the events and therefore can implement whatever rules they want. The styles that participate in it then have to adapt to such rules. Kickboxing is NOT a style. Kickboxing is a discipline, or a martial art, if you prefer that term. Then under that discipline are numerous styles such as the Dutch style, Thai style, Japanese style, etc. Let’s take the Dutch style for example. Dutch kickboxing DOES teaches elbow strikes. They might not emphasize on them as much as the Thais do, but they still incorporate them in their arsenal. Thais on the other hand, don’t put as much emphasis on punching, but every Thai fighter knows how to punch. You see what I’m saying? So, just because most western kickboxing organizations don’t allow elbows, doesn’t mean that they aren’t taught within their discipline. Dutch kickboxing is just another style of kickboxing, and Muay Thai is no different.
