This channel 4 documentary series takes you inside the emergency department of a busy hospital, where medical professionals work tirelessly to save lives and care for their patients. Witness the heart-wrenching moments and the joyous successes, and gain a new appreciation for the work done by healthcare workers every day.
This episode reveals what can happen when something goes wrong with the brain, including when patients suffer a stroke. Sixty-five-year-old cabbie Charlie Brown is making his second visit to King's in a week. Two days previously he crashed his cab and 'bulls-eyed' the window with his head. Also in A&E is 89-year-old Peggy Pierce. Her husband Derek woke to find her slumped semi-conscious over the bed and she's been rushed into King's with a suspected stroke. This isn't the first time Derek's had to take an emergency trip to the hospital with his wife, so he's braced for the worst. Meanwhile, in the waiting room, Sally is comforted by her ex-boyfriend Ben while she awaits treatment for a cut finger, and two boisterous friends entertain themselves with an imprompt ride around the department in a wheelchair.
----

Derrick is wonderful. He knows that his wife is more than likely dieing, and is trying to reassure the doctor that it's OK, he understands that she's going. Ben and Sally are a shining example of what real friendship means. Zena could run Parliament successfully from a phone booth.

When I was a young graduate student in clinical psychology, one of my training jobs was in the emergency room of the local children's hospital as a grief counselor for parents whose kids died, some from illness or accident but many from gang related shootings. When you sit with a mother who has.lost 3 or.4 kids to gun violence....it's harrowing. One little girl was just two years old, killed in a drive by as her front porch was sprayed with bullets.

While her husband was conveniently out of town? It was very telling that she never discussed him, and I’m sure he saw the episode when it aired… Somethings a brewing, he needs to pay attention.
