Do you look to TV marriages for advice on your own relationship?

If I need marital advice I either go talk to my personal therapist or our marriage counselor. Even then, as a couple we have rough patches where we don't communicate properly. But I learned a long time ago that TV is not real life and reality shows are heavily scripted to generate high ratings, like wrestling. Everyone's relationships are different and need different things to persevere. No one should idolize tv personalities or celebrities when they're no better off than I am. None of us know what we're doing, don't look to others, create your own story.

@@Innerchild.Whisperer you totally hit the nail with 'some things should not be on tv' I say this about social media ALL THE TIME! some things just shouldn't be filmed! let alone posted for the world to see 😭 The 'at what cost?' the money blinds them to push the envelope harder. They say money doesn't change ppl, it just shows you who they were all along.

I think its sooo interesting , when you bring up, these are not authentic family interactions. It is put together for TV. I definitely thought these relationships were real in the early 2010’s, when I was younger, but now I totally see how these families are mot portraying their actual real lives.

TLC also promotes religious fundamentalism. Religion is harmful than good in the first place but TLC goes for the fundamental religious families. It is sick and sad. We live in a society where we need to get rid of religion in the first place
