73-Year-Old Grandma Dead After Violent Carjacking by Teens: Cops

2 жыл бұрынA group of teens are accused of attacking and carjacking a 73-year-old woman, whose arm was severed before she died on the scene, authorities said. Linda Frickey, a grandmother of four, was leaving her job at a New Orleans insurance company when three teens surrounded her and took her out of the car. The suspect at the driver side appeared to stomp and punch Frickey while female accomplices jumped into the backseat. Sister-in-law Kathy Richard is reeling. “It’s so deliberate, cruel,” she said.

Update: the 3 females got up to a max of 20 yrs and the male “because he was 17, a juvenile, at the time of the killing, the life sentence for Honore means a chance at parole after 25 years. He was not eligible for the death penalty because the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005 outlawed execution of minors.”

This reminds me of what happened to Mohammad Anwar almost exactly a year ago. He got carjacked while working by some kids who do this kind of thing for recreation. It was a brutal death as well. May Linda Frickman and Mohammad Anwar find justice.

This brutal act of violence is sickening. Shame on them. I hope all four of them receive the full measure of punishment that they so greatly deserve! This is why the very FIRST THING that I do when I get into my car-or any car-is to LOCK THE DOORS. Your seat belt can wait. Adjusting your mirrors can wait. Answering that ringing cell phone can definitely wait. You never know who is watching you, and at least if the door is locked, it provides a few valuable seconds to flee. It appears that the door was unlocked since the perpetrator quickly swung it open. Absolutely brutal, senseless, heartbreaking, and unnerving. My deepest sympathy to her family and all who knew her.

looks like the sentencing happened recently. the 3 females got up to a max of 20 yrs and the male “because he was 17, a juvenile, at the time of the killing, the life sentence for Honore means a chance at parole after 25 years. He was not eligible for the death penalty because the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005 outlawed execution of minors.”

Agreed! I heard about this story a few days ago, but the media didn't cover the horrific brutality she suffered from the very start! My heart goes out to her family, friends and colleagues. I wish that legislation could be passed nationwide, in her name to honor her memory, making car jackings involving the torture and death of the car owner/driver to *automatically* get the death penalty, absolutely no bail/no appeals, and for the death sentence to be carried out within six months of the crime.

What kind of help could anyone give? The car is speeding away, dragging her along; no one could catch up with it. Maybe someone carrying a gun could have shot out the back tires or back hatch glass if their reflexes were extremely fast. The fact that the 911 system was not functioning right certainly contributed to her death.
