Two nurses and their tour guide driver were killed after their Jeep plunged over a cliff along Camp Bird Road in the Colorado mountains. Arizona tourists Diana Robles, Ofelia Figueroa-Perez and their driver, Don Fehd, were all killed when their 2022 Jeep plunged 100 feet off a cliff. The 28-year-old and her aunt were both dedicated nurses from Yuma. Before the crash, Robles took a picture of the iconic Imogene Pass.

I almost fell off a section just like this driving in Colorado.... I came within a few short inches of going off, definitely learnt to respect such trails after that and never approached things with such disregard again as prior to that I was just too overly confident for having done so numerous times, but things can always go wrong no matter how many times you've been on the said trail!

Having grown up in a Colorado mountain town, the roads here can be a nightmare-especially in the winter. We never had a road this extreme where I was, but I’ve seen cars plunge off major highways like 285 & C470 into the abyss below. May God comfort the families of those lost in this tragedy. 😞

We had a road in NC that was and likely still is like this. One morning an elementary school bus was driving along. It was raining. A dump truck loaded with gravel was flying the other direction. The training for the bus driver was to pull safely to the side and let the other vehicle pass. The driver could not see the side of the road clearly in the rain. A tire dropped off the dirt road. Then the whole bus rolled down the ravine. Helicopters from Charlotte came to rescue the children and the driver. There were no fatalities. The driver was found to have followed her training. She recovered and returned to continue driving the bus. I learned about this when I was at the bus garage for new drivers training. The wreckage of the bus was towed in. It was a harrowing sight. I was assigned to the same elementary school where to my surprise this had happened. The driver I talked to said that this was her bus. She told me her story that I just shared with you.

And I can assure you, more trees have been skinned, more tires have been busted on stumps, and fenders and bumpers have been bent, and most of the time, there's a pretty girl in the jeep, and the driver is making conversation and not watching the trail. I was stating an opinion on pretty much a common fact. He had 2 pretty women in the jeep, which means one was in the back seat. Taking your eyes off the trail for just a second can have bad results. Wasn't trying to make a joke , I was being serious, he probably got distracted, and once those big front tires leave the edge, it will just suck you off the road.

My family (from FL) took a trip west around Christmas time many years ago. We were driving in the mountains (paved road) and hit some ice going around a corner. There was no railing and a massive cliff, we slid right towards it and thankfully the other lane was empty. Condolences to all those that mourn the losses. Years ago, over the course of a few years, the wife and I traversed this road in rented Jeeps, as well as our own 4WD Blazer we had at the time. (I was driving.) There was never any life threatening drama during the entirety of the trips. You take your time and be very careful. It will never be known what conditions that led to this tragedy. (It was NOT through lack of experience on the part of the driver.) However, closing off such roads "for the safety of others" is doing a disservice to those of us that enjoy experiencing the mountains in such a manner. If you're uncomfortable with such exploration upon roads such as these: Simply stay off them, but please don't try to impose your concern on others and thus prevent them from safely enjoying such historic roads.

you can never predict when the land will give way due to erosion. There was an area of paved interstate right in the city and it was on a hill, and the side of the hill fell apart and one of the lanes crumbled. It was only a 50 foot drop, and no one was on it, but it caved in. Same thing goes with bridges. But in cases like this, you're purposely putting yourself in this situation. It's not just this road, and it will go on and on regardless of the vehicle your in.
