Thanks for watching. I had this edger in my shed but I don't have a need for it. So I had a better idea for it.

I did this with an older MTD edger with a 3HP B&S horizontal shaft engine, along with a dado blade stack ($1 from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore!) - it worked very well on soft woods like ligustrum and cottonwood. Never did try it on oak, but I'd bet it would eventually chew it up as well...

worked surprisingly well . many years ago i had a circular saw blade that was manufactured with only one tooth (carbide) . i believe it was enduro brand . sawing some boards on my pickup tailgate , i accidentally sawed thru the tailgate . didn't even notice till weeks later when i noticed the slot in my tailgate . didn't seem to damage the blade at all , i continued to use that same blade for years . carbide = tough .

I modified some mowers on my channel, by cutting the front of the deck away so I could use it as a brush mower to cut through very tall grass and thick foliage. As long as you don't stand in front of it, I'd say it's not too dangerous.

I came across an edger similar to this at the local dump, and I took it home. I also have several stumps around that need to be removed. I may have to give this a try first. Thanks for the idea. Listening to the engine as it was cutting... I think you could have gone with 3 or 4 blades.

Good idea for equipment that you weren’t using. My thought and my thought only is that I would have used a skill saw making several deep cuts in both directions. I would then use an axe, maul, or sledge hammer with wedge to get rid of the pieces. But I do like your idea. Nice job.

🇺🇸👍 Modified edger fit with concrete cutting blade and a water jet nozzle for cooling and a 3-5 HP motor. Great for cutting asphalt and concrete slow but cheaper then renting a professional machine or paying someone to do it 👍

A couple of suggestions. Harbor Freight sells a chainsaw blade disk for an angle grinder that might just fit that arbor. I think it would do a better job than the saw blades. Another option might be to use a Dado blade. Although, that might be a bit more expensive. Honestly, I don't see this as being any more dangerous than the edger blade.

I have a stihl weedeater. It stopped pumping fuel. So I got new diaphragms. And that fixed it, and it kind of ran. Wouldn’t rev up. Then next day. I go to pump it and there’s fuel in the bulb but when I pump it? The fuel went away and wouldn’t come back? Any ideas?

You could have (more easily) just use your electric circular saw with a single blade installed (like normal). Cut your crisscross, etc. Or, what I have done, use a 'saws-all' type electric saw with tree trimming blade and cut it down below the surface, no crisscrosses necessary, the blade can go right into the dirt. I do applaud your doing it as an experiment, but it seems obviously impractical right from the get-go.
